With the flu, we have a very clear sense of what the death toll will be, year-in and year-out. And we have a proven vaccine program that — while it doesn’t work for 100% of the people, 100% of the time — has stood the test of time and is reliable overall.

Neither of these factors apply with Corona. Nobody seems to know *Yet* what the worst-case scenario is. Plus the suspicion that this started as some sort of bio-terror research activity by PRC authorities, who may have lost control of their own experiment. Hence the panic.
