As I said once before, this project is so big and so important that the president at some point owes an explanation of what happened and why.

Based on my recent (after the last announcement) conversation with someone who is directly involved in the process, I don't think there is any major reconsideration going on behind the scenes at this point. They seemed resigned to the fact that we are only able to do so much with the current funding. I imagine they are tweaking designs a little, and possibly trying to determine if there is any possible way to add suites in this round, but I am fairly doubtful of that. Basically, I was told "we have a budget, and this is what it gets us."

I understand where they are, and can only be so angry about it at this point, but it is really a disappointment, and a concern for the future that we are unable to do more after putting so much time and effort into this.

Correct. ODU is not getting a San Diego state stadium...EVER. It is what it is. We will be a low-mid FBS level program, with maybe 1 year out of 5-6yrs (if we're lucky) getting to the championship game. With the current bowl system, there's no reason to not get to a bowl every season (at the very least 3 out of 4 years). However, dreams of becoming another UCF (or Marshall a few years ago) will be just those..hopes not reality.

Thats depressing. If the goal is not to become a UCF or even ECU, Marshall, NIU, Navy level, I would rather have stayed FCS. I understand it would take time to build a team to that level, but seriously, one has to have the access bowl as the ultimate goal if they're FBS G5. Otherwise, why even play at that level? That should be the stated goal of every team in the G5.

What? Nuke never mentioned anything about our program's goals. Of course our goal is to win CUSA championships and compete for the access bowl.

He just said it's unrealistic to expect them to be the next UCF. Read slower, it might prevent you from having a conniption.
