If ESPN now is free to own Pac and Big 12 schools, while also needing matchups to compete with 3 OTA BIG games, an expanded SEC followed by a consolidation of all leftovers into a 24 school conference seems more likely than before.

If there’s needed inventory to supplement BIG T1 deals, big 10 expands or the same networks create Big 18/20 and keep schools away from ESPN.

In either scenario, it seems more unlikely Memphis is added.

Memphis will be holding an annual public sacrifice to the realignment gods in hopes that the ACC is raided as soon as possible.

TBF, Memphis deserves a P5 invite but 2034-2036 is the next window for them unfortunately.

After all is said and done, Memphis will be a member of the ACC.

This Memphis fan has been waiting for the "dust to settle" (as the thread is titled) for 50 years. At some point, I need to give up and focus on more important things — like the debate involving the topic "Which Celtic band is more important and talented: The Pogues or Dropkick Murphys?"

Memphis will find a landing spot in the M level (currently B12, PAC, ACC) before too long, I bet. Just keep showing up in highlight videos and tooting your horn.

They'll be in the AAC or ACC. The Big 12 isn't adding anymore G5 schools.

Memphis has found their level. You generally can gauge a conference by where Memphis and Tulane end up. They are good enough to get invited after schools leave. They are always on the list and have credibility, but by the time they are invited a conference is usually on a major decline. The Big XII would be foolish to add a G level school at this point. In the end Memphis will be in the AAC, it just may be called the big XII or ACC

Some selective information here since Memphis football got rolling in 2014 ....but they are 5-1 in last 6 against Houston. 5-1 in last 6 against Cincy. UCF has had Memphis number. Ha Ha. I don't say any of that out of disrespect against Houston or Cincy....more of respect and just that Memphis has represented themselves well lately. I don't think people realize how good of a run Memphis football has been on.

I think the world of Cincy, Houston, and UCF....I just believe Memphis should be with them.

I like Memphis's chances for a B12 bid before too much time passes.

We already know the B12 intends to expand. Once the conversation moves to likely expansion possibilities, Memphis and USF top the board. Out west, Boise complements Gonzaga.
