Does go to show why the coaches are casting such a wide net, for every grad transfer we lose to a power program, one or two may slip through to the mid/low major levels.
There are so many options beyond simply level of play or ability to go deep in the tournament that go into a transfer's decision. Previous relationships with coaches and current athletes, proximity to home, and the ability to continue a degree in their major to name a few. Simply writing off a kid because he played in the Big10 or ACCbis short sighted and not doing due diligence.

Oh I agree. Sometimes it's a little discouraging to see grad transfers who were mid major role players seemingly all go to P6 schools, but it's nice to see someone who received good minutes at an ACC school go to the OVC.

Yes, it's back home for him, but the Eastern KY HC was Beverly's coach at Hargrave.

Jake Weingarten in a couple of tweets says Jarrod West has been contacted by West Virginia, GA Tech, Duquesne, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Florida, Georgetown, Ohio State, Texas, Rhode Island, and Wichita State. West is from WV and his father played for WVU.

https://mobile.twitter.com/jakeweingarte...0846855168

An article on Zagsblog says Jarrod West has received offers from Rhode Island, Louisville, Pitt, and Wichita St. West says he wants to commit “sooner rather than later.”

https://www.zagsblog.com/2021/03/24/mars...han-later/

The offer process with transfers is a little frustrating; some transfers keep getting offers but most never announce any offers even though they’re talking with schools and eventually commit somewhere. For WM it’s hard to know if a player they start following is a passing interest or someone they really want because we never hear of any offers.

Jake Weingarten tweets:

“ Marshall transfer Jarrod West tells
@Stockrisers
that Rhode Island and Miami both just offered and he will virtually meet with both staff’s tomorrow. In addition, he will also virtually meet with UF’s Mike White tomorrow as well.

Plus, Virginia and Vanderbilt have reached out.”

https://mobile.twitter.com/jakeweingarte...6098181121

Jarrod West will announce tomorrow. His final three are Louisville, Ohio St, and Pitt.

https://247sports.com/Article/Basketball...ssion=true

Jarrod West chooses Louisville.

CAA MBB Transfers 2021
Citadel transfer Kaiden Rice will be announcing his Top 8 schools tonight at 6:00 PM

Shouldn't be any huge surprises because I think he's been linked to 9 schools. I'm guessing the odd team out is UAB. At least it is a step in the direction of closing out his recruitment.

Arizona
Butler
Duquesne
South Florida
W&M
UAB
Loyola Chicago
Nevada
South Alabama

And, if we make his list, it will be a pretty good indicator of what most of us already assume... that a player on our returning roster is leaving and a scholarship is opening up.

So who wants to try to read the Twitter leaves on this one? With the posting of Kaiden Rice's top 8 there has been a lot of Twitter jockeying saying where he should go.

Kaiden's most recent follows have included a handful of staff at South Alabama but also a USF DoBO. He retweeted a tweet from Savage Academy's tweet saying he should go play with his brother at WM and also retweeted a post from a Butler-related account. He liked tweets from USF and UAB related accounts.

Kaiden did retweet VMI-to-South Alabama transfer Greg Parham's tweet saying that Kaiden knows where to go [handshake], implying South Alabama. Tyler Rice responded with a frown, Greg said sorry bro, Kaiden tweeted crying faces, and Tyler responded with laughing emojis. Tyler, Kaiden, and Greg all recently followed each other.

When a friend of Tyler's commented about WM's presence in Kaiden's top 8 Tyler posted an emoji with arms raised in what I'm hoping is a coy shrug.

Kaiden's mother started following WMTribeMBB and NoBidNation - that could simply be because Tyler will be here next year but the timing of the following is interesting. She liked tweets about practically all the schools on Kaiden's list. Two South Alabama coaches followed her but she has not followed back. His father recently followed Duquesne's MBB account and a Loyola Chicago coach.

Coach Howland liked the announcement and the Savage Academy tweet and Coach Boatner liked Tyler's retweet. Coach Fischer's wife started following Kaiden.

To me it seems like the choice is WM (for the obvious reasons) or South Alabama (which has been a trendy destination for transfers this season) but that could just be recency bias since Kaiden just had a zoom call with their staff. I wonder now that there is a top 8 how long it will be before the field narrows again and a final decision made.

I wonder what he's going to do degree wise. Could be part of the decision. He majored in Sports Management at Citadel.

CAA MBB Transfers 2021
I've noted elsewhere that family is important in the Rice household. I have no idea exactly what Kaiden is looking for, but the desire of his parents is pretty obvious. Distance driving from Columbia, SC to Mobile, AL is a little under 8 hours (538 miles) in the totally opposite direction of where Tyler is playing. Distance to Williamsburg is about 6 hours where they can make a nice weekend out of seeing both boys. Of the top 8, no school is closer than W&M. I also put more stock into the input from Columbia area coaches and trainers that mentored Rice on his way up. Seems some of them are excited about the idea of teaming with his brother.
It's possible that Kaiden is swooned away during a visit to Alabama (nothing scheduled that I'm aware of), but IMO it's a local high major or W&M left standing at the end. Just makes too much sense with logistics, style of play, grad school opportunities, and needs of the program. South Alabama might be amassing transfers and a fun pick, but it is completely an outlier. If the NCAA tournament is his goal, then Loyola Chicago should be a strong contender. I think they were the only one in the 8 to make the field this year.
I have noticed a late comer in his follows - Coastal Carolina. Not sure if they are too late to the game, but proximity to home makes them an option.

Don't forget that we play Elon, Wilmington, and Charleston every year also, and they are closer than the Burg

Is UNCW once again going with a rotation with no one over 6'6"? Except for a freshman VC tells me is 6'8"/170?

First step for that kid, even before the weight room, might be three square meals a day.

All I got is this so far. Both would be perfect landing spots for him.
