Really?
"Some of our posters," including me, simply want to see our alma mater play our peers and get away from 50-point, blowout wins against the likes of STFU.
How you get from that clear goal all the way to us wanting "JMU to handle athletics like a professional sports team" is beyond me.
You can both be right you know
Deez is correct. I would like to see us stop playing STFU, Morehead and Robert Morris. I have shared this with the JMU Administration on more than one occasion. I am considering dropping my season tickets and buying a few single game tickets each season instead because I find most of the games are boring. I do like the tailgates and seeing old friends though.
I want FBS too. I am tired of boring football during the regular season. We get maybe two competitive regular season games and maybe two in the playoffs during a season. It is time for us to move up. I have stated this about a dozen times. You post regularly so I am not sure why you don’t remember my position on FBS football. I just don’t see going independent as a smart option at this time.
It's a "smart option" because it's the only option. For whatever reason, our admin has turned down each and every invite we have had, however many that is. At least two or three, according to some who claim to be informed sources.
The ACC and SEC are not going to come calling. I doubt the AAC does either, in this lifetime. We have snubbed everyone else. We now have five options, as I see it....
1. Wait until hell freezes over for an FBS conference we consider worthy to roll out the red carpet and beg us to join.
2. Continue to monitor the situation until our grandchildren are in old folks' homes.
3. Stay in the CAA and watch our program become Richmond (we can always build a smaller stadium when attendance sucks.... and, at the current stagnant pace, it will).
4. Join ODAC and really kick some ass!
5. Follow the proven lead of Liberty and go FBS indy, which will give us a fantastic regular season schedule, exciting football again, playing among our true peers, and a step forward instead of stagnation or a step backward.
I find it hard to believe that this is even an argument.
