Newest Conference Rumor/Discussion 2.0 - FBS Dave - 11-02-2020 10:11 AM

There are 4 ranked teams this week that are programs that moved up from FCS. JMU is pretty good at FCS. Have y'all ever considered moving up?

Why have other programs that seem to have less advantages surpassed JMU?

We're still monitoring the situation as things are fluid

Excellent, it sounds like JMU is on top of the landscape then. I was worried that the world was passing you by, but monitoring is probably the best course.

Nope - rest assured we're monitoring the situation with eyes wide open.

Is this thread real or a stick in the eye?

There is a 25,000 post with 6,000,000 views on this subject three threads below...not including the old CAAzone.

So this has been considered before?

It seems odd that JMU with the stadium, fans, high FCS spending, and FCS championships is still FCS while Coastal Carolina and Liberty are now ranked FBS programs.

We are pretty good at football, but what we really do best is monitor situations. We have been doing it for two decades and get better at it every day.

That would be:

#15 AP #16 Coaches Coastal Carolina
#16 AP #15 Coaches Marshall
#21 AP #23 Coaches Boise State
#25 AP #RV Coaches Liberty

Also a combined 19-0

Enjoy your games against Morehead State, Robert Morris and Elon. JMU really should be ashamed for playing Morehead State, in Marshall's history we've played Morehead 45 times (Marshall leads the series 33-10-2). But the last game was in 1994 when Morehead AD ask to suspend the series for a few years. Marshall had just got through beating Morehead State 71-7. Guess what, that series is still suspended.

Thank you for that tale.

Suspend future games with teams beaten 70 - 0. What? We are more likely going to vote to offer conference membership to those programs, Norfolk State as an example. NSU is the last 1aa team in VA to conference up...

Let's see their posts once we get our free invite to the ACC, AAC, or the new Mid Atlantic conference that has ECU, Marshall, App St, & ODU. 02-13-banana

They will be bowing to us 04-bow

Nice full page article today in USA Today (page C6) on Coastal Carolina football.

So why does JMU just wait and only evaluate while less renowned FCS programs pass them by, elevate to FBS, and compete with excellence?

It’s not like the CAA has remaining appeal.

I’m not a JMU fan or alumnae, just curious as an outsider.

I'm curious, who are you a fan of? Literally all of your posts are on JMU's board.

Start with that, if you still have questions after reading that then come back and ask. I warn you it is the never ending story, so you may need a few days.

Out administration has rewritten history, instead of James Madison the President maintaining the label of Founding Father of the U.S. Constitution, James Madison the University has taken on the permanent label of the Founding Father of the Commonwealth's excellent Colonial Athletic Association.

Every time a VA state university leaves the CAA, four and counting, we shall find a way to dig deeper and continue supporting the CAA. Sure, when the academic power house William & Mary leaves the CAA it will be tough, but getting through tough times will make us stronger, we shall ignore reality, not be transparent about our future with donating alum and claim the addition of Norfolk State is a symbol of engaging in excellence.

I’m not sure how to answer that. Can you? It sounds like if you could, you would have. So I’d guess no.
