RE: C-USA evaluating options as Big Ten cancels nonconference football games
Half the threads on here turn into someone from West Kentucky trying to legitimize their school in some fashion. This has been going on for years now and speaks volumes to the joke that athletic program truly is.

OURLAND-- " Right now RICE's brand does very little to contribute to CUSA's overall strength in football and basketball..."
Conference strength in those two sports is what does or does not bring in better TV contracts, NCAA tourney money, conference ranking, etc.. I am a fan of college baseball and women's sports--- but these do very little to "carry the water".
RICE has not done this in these two sports in a long, long time. I hope they will soon but have strong doubts.
I have more doubt than anyone here. Rice is it's own worst enemy. We fans are sick of it. The only tangible contribution we make in football at this moment is to give our broadcast partners two or three good games to air every season. At least that drives up the value of the contract, albeit very little.
On the positive side, Rice went to three straight bowl games from 2011-2013, so sustained success is possible. It can definitely happen at Rice. Coaching salaries and the recruiting budget is way up. We now recruit the entire nation. The next two years are critical with Mike Bloomgren.

Funny how our joke of an athletic program seems to find a way to whoop Southern Miss a$$ almost every time we meet no mater what the sport.
Lets take a look at our all time records
WKU Football 3 - 0
WKU Men's Basketball 12 - 1
WKU Women's Basketball 6 - 4
