RE: C-USA evaluating options for nonconference football games
We all better be exploring options for Non-conference cause B10 just went to "no out-of Conference" scheduling. can the rest of the Cartel-5 be far behind?

Get in line. We're all losing our great OOC games.

The SEC and I'm sure the other P5's are all looking at cutting their OOC schedules this season. With those "guarantee" games gone from the G5 schedules, some programs running on lean budgets are probably going to struggle just to travel to their conference games. One thing is for certain, every C-USA team (probably every G5 too) will take an additional financial hit from not playing an OOC schedule.

Actually, MT does not take a big financial hit from losing our two Cartel-5 games this year cause we had a Home and Home with both Va Tech and Duke. Might lose some ticket sales for the Home game with Tech.

Plus Judy is gonna have to trade in her ride for something a little less flashy...

That's good news. Glad MT doesn't have a body bag game dragging on their budget.

In the end there will be NO college fb this year. All you need is one player on a team to test positive and nearly the whole team and coaching staff will be on quarantine for 14 days. These AD's are living in fantasy land.

Wow! Are finances that bad at WKU?

It will be at UNT if students are not allowed on campus...

UNT gets 31% of your budget from student fees. Western gets 13%. At some point a student is going to take one of these schools to court over paying these fees when there are no sports being played.

I bet a school getting almost 1/3 of their budget from these fees would be hit a lot harder than one getting 13%. But both would be hurting.

Western would take a larger hit on TICKET SALES,CONTRIBUTIONS, RIGHTS / LICENSING if no sports are being played.....$9,827,778 or 32.5% of the budget.

While UNT doesnt make as much as Western when it comes to tickets sold $1,761,878 and contributions $2,682,814. UNT makes more on Rights/Licensing $6,022,983. For a total of $10,467,675 or another 25.5% of the UNT budget

So that's a potential $23,081,286 from the UNT budget or 56.6% (11% more than Western). Dont fool yourself, no G5 school is going to be able to eat a loss like that for two years without scaling back to match the loss.

That includes UNT. I believe I read an article a month or so ago about how UNT is already hurting

Play the games until it's impossible to do so. Rice has a great nonconference schedule this year. Play the games. Life must go on.

RE: C-USA evaluating options as Big Ten cancels nonconference football games
These decisions are being made in haste. There's no reason for anyone to announce anything concerning Fall sports or school going back until mid August. People at these universities need to prepare as if everything will proceed as normal, until they are notified otherwise. In five weeks, this second outbreak may be well under control. Our athletics departments are going under, and most of us are depending on big paydays to stay afloat.
