Good pickup.
It appears that many of his best offers were of the commitable variety which is nice to see...
Not like the guy The Roost was hyping up as "Rice beating LSU" for...
To those of us who don't know all the ins and outs, what's an uncommitable offer?

Here's an article: https://www.si.com/college/2019/02/05/un...igning-day
Scholarship offers don't count for NCAA rules until they're signed by both sides. The students and the school can withdraw from the offer at any earlier point. Some mid-to-low level P5s (and probably most G5s) offer many more scholarships than they can honor, sometimes hundreds more, every cycle knowing that the vast majority of athletes won't try to keep them even if they verbally commit, kind of like how Harvard, Yale, and Princeton can all admit the same students and know they're only going to get about 1/3 of them each. The top end of the P5 are more selective and get the pick of the litter, and the academically rigorous schools are more selective out of admissions necessity.
For the schools that extend these extra offers, they keep an internal ranking of which offers will be honored and which are just back-ups if the others fall through. The kids aren't told which list they're on; they just kind of have to guess based on how engaged the coaching staff is. If they keep close contact after you commit, you're on the good list. If they only reply to messages and only during working hours, you're probably on the uncommittable list. Of course, the kids don't know to watch out for this, and the parents usually don't, either.

Spring Dekaney DT Elroyal Morris (6-3, 270) commits. That's commit #7 and we're currently ranked 1st in CUSA (60th nationally) for the Class of 2021. But a lot can change between now and December so that's probably way too early to be looking at recruiting class rankings.
According to 247, Arkansas and Hebeisen are 3-stars, Pope is a 2-star, and the other 4 are not currently ranked.

I’d guess they’ll all be 3 stars by the time signing day comes around. Seems like 247 at least looks at everyone who’s committed these days so I doubt there will be any unranked players.

It seems we're looking to add size with this class. The line and TE commits all 6'3" or over and big framed.

Maybe we can pick up someone from the PAC 12 since California is still imprisoned. (05-02-2020 08:08 PM)Intellectual_Brutality Wrote: Solid looking group so far! Now, will they actually get to play anytime soon......

California opened up pro sports pretty quickly when they realized their teams would move to red states like Texas and Florida for the season. How about you look at the data and explain where Cali is doing so much better than Texas. Oh wait... you can’t because they aren’t. It must be that longer and more strict shutdown thats saving all of them.

I mean, this is a *Rice* *sports* forum. 2 points of emphasis because:
1. Most if not all posters are very intelligently watching the news/data and coming to their own conclusions. So no one's going to be swayed by some caricature of a position on a complex issue
2. It's sports

Looks like Bloom and his coaching staff are working their tales off in the recruiting world. There is no excuse for Rice football not to go to a biwl game every year based on our football history accept for the last 5 years. I bet he can catch it too. He's tall and big and still growing. High school QB's can make great wide receivers.

He’s our only QB recruit after skipping last year. Pretty sure you can pencil him in at QB and not WR at least for the next several years.
We were pretty selective with our QBs. 5 offers. 1 I don’t think we had a shot at. Our first target went to Arkansas State. Another went to Arkansas. One is uncommitted. And we picked up Itraish. Historically that’s pretty high on our list of targets I think.

From what sources are the three stars? The only one I have seen is 24/7 --- unrated there.

247sports rates him as a three star (83). His composite score is unrated because he is not rated by all the services in their composite score.
