His offer list doesn't tell the story of a 4*. Denver, Houston Baptist, Mercer, Oral Roberts.

247 composite has him as a 3 star 187th best player. In the general vicinity as Joe Reece for us.

Doesn't matter when you get them, as long as you do. Early, late or transfer market. Sounds like most years.
Speaking of Reece. I say throw the young guys into the fire. Won't get better sitting on the bench.

Same story every year. I've stopped being shocked by this coaching staff having to scramble at the last second to pull together a recruiting class.

Last year was rated as one of our best recruiting classes in program history. The year before was up there too.

How's the 2018 class shaping up so far?

Save the hyperbole for the end of the spring period. It's literally day 2 of the early period.

The year before's recruiting class is currently Marquis Goodwin and Alfis Pilavios. Last year's recruiting class appears to be JJ's best since he took over the program, but nowhere near the best in program's history.

FWIW, it's not perfect, but to quantify 247 puts out an all time recruit ranking:
Palmore
Reece
Hicks
Ezikpe
Wade
Hueitt
Godwin
Batten
Pimentel
Dahi
Wright
Bazemore
Cooper
Caver
Key
Lidonde
Adams
This years class is by far the best since at least the Bowdler class, but it would be hard to say there has been a better class in the last 20-25 years.

Joe Reece, Ezikpe and Wade were all 3* recruits. Reece was just under 4*. If you add in DaJour, you have four 3* recruits. When was the last time that happened?

Because when you're not at the P5 level, it helps to get a recruit signed early, preferably before their senior season when the P5s come swooping in at the last minute if the kid has a great year. Plus, there are just fewer guys to choose from as more and more sign. Id hope we get the guys we want, rather than wait and see whats in the leftovers. Sometimes that works, but signing a guy early seems the safer route to me.

Seems like lack of patience more than anything. Why worry about a recruiting class until its time to actually worry about it? We have no idea who they are going to sign, whether its the early signing period or the regular one.
It's just like a hamster wheel, some people just got done worrying about the lack of big men and bam; Robinson and Dickens were signed.

Sounds like it would have to be commit and sign right away scenario. I don't think we have any hard commits for 2019 yet.

Did Wade, Ezikpe, or Reece sign early? Did Godwin?

Another example that this staff wasn't scrambling every year, as Sam said was the case.
