dude is the Sultan of Swat
This is the best game highlight I've seen of him so far. He shows a tenacity in this game that I haven't noticed in prior games. He might've showed it in spurts before, but it seemed like he mostly relied on being a superior athlete. It really looks like he went all out in this one. Westover is 13-4 ranked top 100 in the state, so they are no slouch by any means. Way to go Imajae!!!

He sounds like exactly the type of player that could fill an O'connel type role immediately at the least, but probably more.

I honestly think that might be a stretch as to an immediate impact. His ceiling is higher than O'Connell's but it's hard to tell how any freshman will translate. All the film I've seen on him is he's 4/5 inches taller than everyone and he just dominates. I'm interested to see how he plays against someone his own size. As of now it looks like he doesn't have any D1 offers, with interest from Yale, Harvard, Navy, Wofford, CofC, UNCW, Furman, and UNCG.

Just reading the write up on him we’d be lucky if he were ready to give O’Connell minutes. I agree that seems like a stretch. Don’t ever over estimate what a big can bring to the table at this level in their first year. 90% of the time they aren’t ready to contribute significantly as freshmen. Rendleman, Vlad, and Coombs are some I can think of in the last two decades that contributed as freshmen. Cacok barely touched the floor and that was with Gettys as our first option.

IMO (useless at is is), a lot of the reason many freshmen bigs don't translate as well as freshmen is the size learning curve they're not accustomed to. Guards and forwards are far more likely to have played against talent at their similar level and size much more often then bigs. It seems more often than not that bigs such as Beeker dominate with their size and don't regularly matchup with someone equal to their size that will really test their skills beyond just being a massive body on the floor. All of that changes once these kids hit college and every team and even at practice you're competing at a high level against guys your size. If they're not used to that than it's obviously going to take more time to develop.
Just my "thanks Capt Obvious" opinions here.

that's a fair point, thew simple physicality of D1 where all of a sudden everyone is same size, or bigger!

RE: Recruit Updates
Beeker would be a project. His ability to block shots and stretch the floor make him an ideal 5, but he has a long way to go. He's got some quality mid-major programs that have recently become interested (UNCW included), so his stock is definitely on the rise.

Also, am I reading it correctly on the verbal commits site that Brewton has 21 offers on the table?

That's what it says in the JucoRecruiting article as well. I'm assuming Verbal Commits got their information from that.

Do we really need more guards?
I think we should bring in at least one combo guard at this point and that's without knowing who will transfer or not this offseason... Remember when Gadsden was out and we were down to just one ball handler... Donte Tatum, Keishawn Brewton, and Shykeim Phillips are all current targets that fit this mold. From what I can tell, Brewton is the only of the 3 that has an offer from UNCW.
If they are going after another guard it tells me they expect to lose at least one guard. They have 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores and 2 juniors right now for 3 spots. You don't go after JUCO's to have them sit on the bench.

You're probably right, but there is need for a 3rd ball handler on the roster... Especially, since nobody is certain what Jacque Brown is going to do. Estime, Sims, Taylor, and Fornes are "guards" but none can handle the ball.

Fornes can handle the ball. He did some pretty well last year, IMO he was underutilized this year when it was needed.

I like Fornes, but he has a history of over dribbling into a crowd and turning the ball over. He is excellent one on one. But not one on three.

He can, but I'm not sure that's a role that best suits him. It can be argued that Fornes and Taylor were both underutilized this season. Neither have been particularly good when they've gotten their chance though... They were both starters going into the season. So it's hard to say they didn't get fair chance at proving themselves.
