Interesting is about all I can say.... is that representative of their style or is this a one off?
they are a pirate metal band out of scotland...they don't always cuss like that...but songs like "drink" and "mexico" (lyrics), will get ya to understand them...they just want to have fun!
lead singer is also in a band called GLORYHAMMER...he is the keyboardist...power metal, but in a fantasy world....it's kind of cool
and thank you for listening

On the real, I have never understood the fascination people have with The Cure. I think Friday is about the only song of theirs I can even say I like.

Cool, Stink. I only saw them later int their career. Still a very good show, but I think you saw a better one.
I liked the wry wordwit and strange metaphors in "Bobby" Smith's songwriting. Also, the hypnotic/late nite feel of a lot of the music was at times appealing to me. Never have really needed anything but just the music to get the feeling. If you haven't looked deeper into their catalog, (try Staring at the Sea, their first singles collection, for starters, then yeah, probably all you see is the black goth stuff and eye makeup. I never got as much into the halloween costume aspect of it, but I sure dug a lot of their first 10 years of songs and albums. They had some really great hooks and melodies that stuck in your mind a long, long time and stood up to repeated listening.

I don't think I have ever heard that one off Eliminator. Not bad.
When I get a hankerin' for that kind of stuff, I reach for the Z--
ZZ that is!
IDK, like... I like a decent amount of ZZ songs but when I got a hits disc many moons ago, not too much out of what I already had heard did I find I liked sufficiently to get into more back catalog.
I do think they rock but I just can't dig everything they did. I'm willing to be proven wrong though.

Lastly, caught this on a few reaction channels I like and I gotta say this beat is KILLER ....rhyme flow really works well with it.... but it sure sounds like you need some real subs to make this track sing.

it's just a happy genre of music
Helloween used to be on the Headbangers Ball all the time back in the day. I kind of liked the videos they had.
I've heard some "newer" stuff in the genre of Power Metal in some reaction channels I have been listening to. IMO, the vocals are where the "power" comes from as nearly every singer has a almost operatic quality to their singing. I definitely haven't disliked what I have heard so far but I can't say I'm sold either.
What I did find interesting is a youtuber throwing out that Judas Priest could be considered power metal along with say Iron Maiden. I find the Priest one a little harder to reconcile overall, but in some songs I would agree, but I would say I could get the Iron Maiden angle.
Truth be told, I could say that a band I like, Evanessence, sure sounds like a female lead singer band for this genre.

unleash the archers and helion prime have female leads and are pretty badass.
symphonic power metal is another subgenre....rhapsody, sonata arctica, blind guardian
yes to iron maiden....i'm not sold on the judas priest thing either...
