There’s a Difference
I see lots of posts on this board that cause me to think “that’s a good point”, and then I move onto the next topic. But occasionally I see one that makes me keep coming back to think about what was said, and becomes a core part of my deepening political understanding.

Tiger1983 offered just such a post in the “no longer afraid to criticize O” thread (at post #25):

Quote:In general, Dems resort to invective, doxxing, mayhem, and outright murder when losing a debate or political issue.

Link: https://csnbbs.com/thread-1034549-page-2.html

I believe that sums up a critical difference between the right and the left. If the right disagrees politically with someone, they will be exceedingly rude. Donald Trump is of course the most prominent example, but it extends to many of the comments made in this board.

But it doesn’t turn violent.

Too often for the left, violence is the go-to response.

To quote the late Charlie Kirk, prove me (actually, Tiger1983) wrong.

Another way to put is that the right is your normal people and the left are deranged psychopaths.

We disagree with them and we disagree with each other, while they are only allowed to disagree with us. It’s frustrating to them therefore we must die. How’s that for early morning logic.

I do agree that Tiger1983 is a wise man.

RE: There’s a Difference
Jordon Peterson frequently discussed this paradox a decade ago. People speak fondly of organizations like The Weatherman Underground Movement and later BLM, but there is little tolerance for any conservative speech, and absolutely no tolerance for demonstration. In other words, one can point out where the right goes “too far”, but at point is there an acknowledgement that the Left can go “too far to the Left.”

RE: There’s a Difference
There seemingly are more "subgroups" of the political left that lend themselves to violence (or potential violence) than subgroups of the political right. If I'm correct, this could explain the discrepancy Tiger1983 notes.

But there are folks on the right who resort to terrible behavior, too, in an effort to advance their political cause.

RE: There’s a Difference
There's a really noticeable difference between the common person on the right and the common person on the left bill. Please understand what I mean by "common", ie not political activists for either side. Most of the common people on the right just want to be left alone to live their life and raise their families.

Most of the common people on the left want to stir chit all the time with anyone they can corner into listening to them. I can name names from this very forum if you wish.

There are people on the right who live in their own private Idaho, but they are the rare lunatic fringe. With the left, its mainstream politicians. There IS a difference.

The left has the majority of the atheists and many of them (and some alleged Christians) worship progressive politics. That is their religion. Their political leaders are their Ayatollahs. Most of the people on the right have a life. It revolves around friends, family, faith and football!

You nailed it, bullet. I lean left — and I agree with you fully.

Impossible. You are asking to prove or disprove a belief. I cannot prove to you that you are doing the very thing you are accusing, to an extent fairly, the other side of doing.

Any group you pick for anything is going to have good and bad apples.
Example, it has only been in the past couple of years that violence from the left outpaced violence from the right. But so many won’t have that conversation.

“Persecution is the first law of society because it is always easier to suppress criticism than to meet it" - Howard Mumford Jones.

RE: There’s a Difference
A decade ago the SPLC was paying KKK leaders to attend the Unite The Right Rally. When an organization like the SPLC has to pay for violence on the Right, that’s likely a sign it isn’t common.

Since 1970 there have been over 1,000 acts of far left violence in comparison there have been 250 acts of far right violence.

While most violent political on the left is by organizations, violence on the right are usually lone wolf type violence.

Since the 70’s violence on the right has been less often but steady over the years. Violence on the left however started with a bang in the 70’s with widespread bombings and disappeared until Obama created the protest culture. Far-left violence has surged since 2016.

Looking back at the 70’s Far Left attempts to overthrow our government seem to be cyclical. The difference this time is the Far Left is in Democrat Party.

If they don't, the left is either going to throw all of us on that side in jail, or kill us all.

One of the two.

I overlooked this post this morning, BTF.

I basically agree with you. But I would be more specific.

The average person on the left is more alternative/less mainstream, more "oddball" and more unconventional. These are people that lean toward jobs in creative and nonprofit fields (music, comedy, film, visual arts, graphic arts, zoos, parks, museums, fashion, literature, media, etc.). This is the group that, in a general sense, makes American society interesting.

The average person on the right is more conventional/stable. These folks tend to have more "normal" jobs and lifestyles. They also tend to be more patriotic, more family oriented and more religious. This is the group that, in a general sense, makes American society functional and safe.

Obviously, there are many exceptions to the rule.

I don't fully agree with you when you note "most of the common people on the left (i.e., the typical lefties) want to stir chit all the time."

However, politically biased lefties do, indeed, agitate (protests, marches, vandalism, violence, etc.) much more so than politically biased rightwingers. That is a fair and valid point.

According to data from the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), the first half of 2025 marked the first time in more than 30 years (since tracking began in 1994) that the raw number of left-wing terrorist attacks and plots narrowly outpaced those from the far-right

Throw you in jail? If you did nothing wrong you should nothing to worry about right?
