Prices rose overnight and I can just about guarantee the fuel in gas station tanks were made from oil that was refined 3 months ago. They are now basing pump prices on the price/bbl of oil, not what the fuel cost to put in the tanks of the gas stations. Oil companies get their retail money immediately to make up for when oil prices decrease and the refined fuel from the higher priced oil gets sold.

It can and will go down some quickly, but I will guarantee you it takes multiple times as long for it to get back down to pre-war prices than it took for them to rise. Trump is very much trying to trick dummies that prices can and will go back down to where they were on a similar timeline to how quickly they rose, and that's stupid as hell.

It has taken two months to get to where it is now. Are you saying it will take longer than 2 months to decrease. I don't believe that for one second. There will be a price war when/if oil prices get back in the $70s, which will happen when all of the pent-up supply starts hitting the market.

Yes, I am 100% saying it will take multiple times longer for gas to get back down to where it was February 27th than however long the strait ends up being closed for.
You are going to be wrong. We will see. It is a supply and demand issue. When the oil starts flowing again in the ME, the US oil companies won't be exporting as much oil as they are now. Remember we are exporting more oil now than ever in the history of the country. This is due mainly to the influx of Venezuelan oil. We will see a decline this weekend if oil keeps trading around $90/bbl through tomorrow. It will change that quick. These doom peddler Leftist oil "experts" are just barking propaganda. WTI was trading at just under $107/bbl 3 days ago. It is currently trading at $91/bbl.

We can make a bet if you'd like, same as the one I made with the WKU fan, $20 donation to the boys and girls club. I bet that however many days it ends up being that the Strait is closed that it will take twice as long for the nationwide average gas price to return to the pre-war average. Meaning if the Strait ends up being closed for 70 days I bet that it takes at least 140 days for the nationwide average to return to the pre-war level.

Are you complaining about states with high gas taxes, or just Trump?

Yea, let's get Democrats in office. They'll lower gas prices. Funny. I'm sure the price for a gallon of gas will go down holding Congressional hearings and impeaching Trump everyday. Nothing says stability more than those two things.

One of the first things the previous Dem administration (before Younkin) did in Virginia was raise the gas tax.

Yeppers, that's how the Demonicrats roll, first they raise the gas taxes, Commiefornia, I'm looking at you too, and then blame Trump for the high price of gas. They treat Trump like the step child for all the wrong that they do, maybe they think he's Cinderfella.

Thanks Blumpf. t appears we didn't have an exit strategy planned or didn't anticipate they'd close the strait. Good intention, bad execution.

And even dumber is that he's cheering on all these empty tankers coming here to take US producers oil. It drains our inventory, increases demand, and therefore raises prices even more. His student surrogate must have slept through all his econ classes in college...LOL

Also, we just had the largest one day draw from our SPR in history a few days ago.

We're still likely a month away from hitting peak from this debacle...and that's if things totally go back to pre-war status today. And that's not likely even possible with the losses of production in the ME and with Iran likely to control the SOH which they never did before this excursion.

This will go down as one of, if not the worst, presidential actions in US history.

lol, that last part is a stretch given the Trail of Tears, Watergate, Vietnam, Japanese American internment, etc. But I get it, orange man bad.

Wait a minute. So you two are saying oil will be at $100/bbl or higher forever? I filled up at $3.72/gal yesterday. We will very likely be engaging and bombing here soon, once we get missile defense in place for UAE, SA and other countries.

Nope. I would never say oil will be at $100 or higher forever. It will more than likely go below and above that quite a bit.

But you also have to realize there's way more factors to the price at the pump than just the market price of oil at current.

RE: AAA - Gas Hits $4
Best case---the moment a deal is struck and the Strait reopens---gas prices will begin to plummet. Worst case, the war restarts----Iran is completely decimated---the Strait is reopened by force---but not before Iran manages to send out several waves of missiles that cause substantial damage to Middle East oil infrastructure. Under this scenario gas prices would likely fall some---but could remain at elevated levels for a year or so depending on how long it takes to bring Middle East production fully back on line. Im pretty sure this is why Trump is being beyond patient when it comes to the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan. He really doesnt want gas prices to be elevated for an extended period.

lulz yep

Using the SPR for what it was built for is bad.

But using so much of it that it damages that the reduced storage levels damages the tanks is ok when its done to try to save the dems butts in the elections.

I think there's plenty of be critical of Biden for, specifically around the Ukraine war, but fundamentally Biden was (IMO incorrectly in a lot of cases) reacting to a war and resulting energy issues that was preemptively started by Russia. Trump on the other hand is reacting to a war and resulting energy issues that he preemptively started himself. Trump created the conditions where drawing down the SPR was required. Biden I would argue made poor choices to turn this into a proxy war in the hopes of weakening or maybe even destroying the Putin government, but still he didn't start it Russia did.

Aside from just the typical Biden did it so it has to be bad what would you say Biden should have done differently? Or just frame it differently since what you'd want Biden to do is whatever would have ensured Dems lose worse in the midterms if there was a GOP president at the time of Russia's attack what would you have wanted them to do differently than what Biden did?

Biden* did what Carter did and Obama did. They put regulations on the oil industry and it caused the price to spike, as they intended for it to. Once they realized that high gas prices were going to affect them at the poll, they released the SPR at massive rates.

This is not a both sides do it. The SPR was created for a reason. Trump's release falls under the reason the SPR was created. Trying to save your ass in an election isnt the reason the SPR exists. But every democratic president since Clinton has done it for that very reason.
