A given? Based on what? He hasnt fired Mueller or impeaded his investigation---though there is arguably reason to. Yes, he fired Comey (who was originally hired by Obama and was hated by both repubublicans AND democrats when he fired)--but he didnt stop the investigation. He has cooperated with the investigation. The only thing he has done is put in a good word for his old campaign manager (Unless we have revoked the constitution---Im pretty sure the president still has the right to express an opinion that someone is a good man).
Contrast that behavior with the Mueller investigation that has failed even inspect the actual servers that were hacked (you'd think that would be step one of the process). Not to mention the Mueller investigtion has now been exposed as being filled with bias--loaded with Trump hating Hillary activists who clearly saw it as a political weapon to reverse an election. Oh---and dont forget---we've got an FBI that is effectively in contempt of the Senate by stonewalling on providing documents demanded by the Senate.
Just an FYI--we are now 18 months into this investigation. The first 8 months were conducted by the Obama administration. Over a year was conducted by an FBI headed by an Obama appointee and full of staffers loyal to the Obama administration. The investigation has used all the powers and technical capabilities available to every intelligence and law enforcement agency of the federal government (including wiretaps and electronic survellience). Despite a change in administration after inauguration, the case continues to be prosecuted by a cast of characters that is clearly hostile to the Trump administration. Despite all that--the only charges resulting from the investigation after a year and half involve people lying to cover up errors in security clearance/election paperwork and shady financial dealings years before the Trump campaign even formed.
Now contrast that with Watergate. Within 8 months, there were numerous people charged, tried, and convicted of criminal activity as a direct result of the scandal. Within 24 months of the night of the break in--the president was nearing impeachment and chose to resign. That was accomplished without a single wire tap and with no electronic survellience and no help from the most of the nations spy agencies. The most striking thing----that entire investigation was performed with the Nixon administration running the justice department.
In short--if there was really anything of significance to the charge of collusion---we would know by now and people would already be in jail. If a hostile administration using electronic survelliance, wire taps, and all 17 intelligence/law enforcement agencies couldnt find anything in 7 months---well--the reason is because there isnt any collusion to find.
