If that happens, this could go down as one of the worst decisions ever made by a US president. Seems like they should have made sure they had this secured before they started bombing.
Also, if this goes on another 2-3 weeks, it will become fairly clear that this cannot be done by air and sea alone...and if you think this operation is unpopular now, wait to see how unpopular it becomes if we put boots on the ground and start piling up casualties.
You missed the part where plans are being made now to reroute any new oil. And the stuck ships may do the same, and stay out of the Strait.
But keep cheering for the worst to happen!
P.S. The initial estimate before Epic Fury started was that it would take 4 to 8 weeks.
Again with the logical fallacy.
And where exactly are they going to "reroute" it? Over land? And even if they could, that's clearly going to take a lot of time...again...throwing global supply chains into chaos.
And sure...the administration claimed at one point in their changing narrative that it may take 4 to 8 weeks, but that was not for a blockage of the strait. I have my doubts those idiots even considered the possibility of it. From their public rantings, they seemed to expect Iran to just roll over.
Good grief. It's not worth even trying to debate you. And yes, over land, per reports. They showed a map of the possible rail and road routes to safer ports.
Nor with you when you make a completely asinine statement like...
"keep cheering for the worst to happen!"
Anyway...put on a critical thinking cap and just try and comprehend the logistics and cost of off-loading hundreds of tankers...and moving the oil, LNG, fertilizer, etc. across land...and then tell us how quickly that would happen. Not to mention how that would be any more safe for the people moving the items...let alone assuring the safety of the infrastructure and all the countries it would need to pass through.
#NonStarter
You obviously don't read all the words. I said the NEW OIL. Then I said maybe the tanker oil, but that hasn't been decided yet.
Read all the dang words. This is like 3 times today already.

Should they have also secured world peace and cured cancer first? There is no "alternative" to secure "before bombing". Thats why this Iranian threat has always been considered Iran's "nuclear option". That said---"bombing" is exactly how this threat is permanently removed from the board. We have removed one method of enforcing a closure of the Straight (navy gone--likely any permanent coastal missile emplacements are gone---along with their radars). Now we are working on the asymmetrical threats---as well as leadership strikes and our other goals (eliminating nuclear material threat and the ballistic missile threat).
Yes---this will result in some short term pain. Had we done nothing, we would have ended up with another N Korea---but this one would have been smack dab in one of the worlds most important regions and would eventually have the ability to hit the US mainland. If you want to end this threat that "Death to America" shouting Iran poses---ya want to do it before or AFTER iran has an actual nuclear weapon?
I'm old enough to remember when Iran was 2 weeks away from the bomb...two decades ago.
Pretty sure Obama told us so---and "saved" us with a deal that would not allow Iran to build a nuke until Obama was well out of office. #KickTheCanDownTheRoad
Obama had a deal.
IAEA said it was working.
trump killed deal with no replacement.

Obama did not have a deal. Obama paid for a deal up front that the Iranians were secretly violating. The IAEA also was denied access to multiple suspected nuclear sites---so the IAEA cant really say whether it was working or not. The fact the Iranain's admitted in negotiations they have more enriched uranium than expected suggest they cheated during the ENTIRE deal right from the start.
Trump ended the deal because it would never stop Iran from getting a nuke and went back to the maximum sanctions position to pressure Iran back to the table for a deal that would actually work (that IS a plan). The truth is Iran never returned to the table---why is that? Because they never wanted a deal that would ACTUALLY stop them from getting a nuke---they wanted a deal like Obama gave them where they got lots of cash and were still allowed to progress toward a nuke (they only got that because Obama is a glittering jewel of ignorance).
So yes---its harder to block a nation from getting a nuke than it is to just let them have one. Welcome to the real world. The real world is hard. This is the kind of difficult work required to actually end the Iranian nuclear threat.
