Yet you harbor resentment towards a guy for the decision he made as a 17 year old kid over a half decade ago.
I know how we can be square - if Thad wants to give back, he should give money to the University.

What a joke. So because the guy doesn't have bad things to say about these players, he's a bad reporter? Do you measure a beat writer's quality by the amount of times he has trashed a player who made a decision that went against your team? What an awful metric.

Discusses AT & DJ NBA moves, Iverson, Memphis Madness (10/18), Shaq, Pellom not meeting hype, etc...
Shaq playing ok at his new weight?
Jason said he looked "gangly." Skinny now, not very muscle-ly. Give Shaq a lot of credit, he really dropped the weight once he got back to Atlanta. Apparently he and a buddy really pushed each other to get back into shape.
Since players don't use free weights in this system, it will be interesting to see how Shaq (or if Shaq) can put on muscle MASS in the upcoming months.

no your wrong about that. I just don't care to hear about players who were not tigers. no hate, no resentment. also, if all I had to worry about was thad young's college choice....well, my life would be darn near perfect. I hope he makes a billion dollars.
I replied to HoopDreams with that post. "Go walk off a pier f that guy" shows resent.
Your post just displayed a bit of agitation. It's just ridiculous to think that conversations you hear on any broadcast platform are going to conform to some set of standards you have. He talked for a minute or two about Thad in the 30 minutes he was on air, and that's what you decided to focus your post on? Sort of narcissistic.

No, he takes paid clients here throughout the year, including basketball season.

This is legitimate, especially with this current batch of players. (Jackson, Crawford, etc)
Jason has probably covered these guys since they were in junior high.

A good beat writer should have a great relationship with the players and the coaches. They should trust him enough to give him access.

What has he been untruthful about in his reporting?

First, let me start by admitting I don't follow Jason Smith all too closely or read much (if anything) he writes because I don't find value in it. Occassionaly, I hear something he said on this board or on the radio. So I could be wrong about him. Maybe he isn't afraid to be tough at times. I guess others would have to chime in about that.
One example would be Adonis Thomas. He was defensive on the radio about people who were critical of AT. He said something along the lines of AT was going to NBA camps, and he's a great kid and people need to shut up. That's my problem with him. It's sports. Most people hope for the best for AT in life. He'll be just fine making money playing bball somewhere. I also think it's OK to tell the truth: as a bball player, Adonis was overhyped and underperformed. In many people's opinion, he didn't have that killer instinct (some call it heart). But Jason doesn't want to say that because he's more concerned being AT's pal.

Seriously? You're bashing on the guy's skills as a reporter and you don't even follow him? You "could be wrong about him"? Seriously?

Yeah, I don't know what you were listening to but that's not what I heard. I just heard him giving an update and said a couple times that he was a good kid.
"I also think it's OK to tell the truth: as a bball player, Adonis was overhyped and underperformed. "
First off, Jason has never held back in saying that he think's Adonis was too heavy and didn't work hard enough. You'd know this if you listened to/read him. He is a BEAT WRITER. It is not in his best interest to bash on players.
Your opinion of Jason is coming from ignorance. You admitted to not reading the guy or listening to him. So where are your complaints coming from? What people on mt.org say?

Iverson: Said he hasn't seen him play yet. Nick King and he are getting along very well. "Barbershop" word is that he's a ball-hog, but put a lot of emphasis on the "babershop-talk" thing.
Shaq: Closer to gangly than buff. Thinks he will do very well in getting off the floor this year - said he sees him being able to go up multiple times to tip the ball to himself.
Pellom: He'll get playing time because of his face-up game, but that he's starting to agree with Vernon in that Pellom may not be what we expected. Noted that he was not good in the Bluff and that even Ferro looked awesome in the Bluff.

I'm not sure why you are getting upset. I said I could be wrong. As I stated previously, I do not read his articles because I gain nothing from them. I'm admitting that others might feel different than I do about him. You are clearly one of them.
I have no problem with you finding value in what he reports. I don't. Let's move on. If others want to chime in, be my guest.
