JJ, CC and several others came in very skinny and have filled out nicely.

Frank does a great job. We are very lucky.

He wouldn't come out of the tunnel in the pre-game at Rice until I put my camera away. I wasn't even thinking about filming him--just the players, but when I realized what was going on, I apologized, turned it off, and we both chuckled about it.

Is he Hindu or something?

Never seen Battlefield Earth but it is legendary for being awful. :)

Eyes Wide Shut is not even the worst Tom Cruise movie in my opinion. That award goes to Vanilla Sky. That is the worst movie, by far, that I have ever endured inside a theater.

Every time I see him he has the unibomber/hoodie look. He's one odd individual.

Discusses AT & DJ NBA moves, Iverson, Memphis Madness (10/18), Shaq, Pellom not meeting hype, etc...

Shaq playing ok at his new weight?

Jason said he looked "gangly." Skinny now, not very muscle-ly. Give Shaq a lot of credit, he really dropped the weight once he got back to Atlanta. Apparently he and a buddy really pushed each other to get back into shape.

Since players don't use free weights in this system, it will be interesting to see how Shaq (or if Shaq) can put on muscle MASS in the upcoming months.

Wut?

Maybe. I think he's just a different kind of writer.

Parrish and Wolken are both guys who love sports along with all its melodramatic nonsense. They like to write about coaches on the hot seat or what Johnny Manziel got thrown at him at a frat party. So because that's what they like, they shine in smear pieces. They can sometimes underwhelm when it comes to pieces that they can't write in a sarcastic tone (Wolken much more so).

Jason seems more like a guy who just loves the game and the success stories that surround it, so in turn, he's not as enthusiastic to bring down the players and coaches with his writing. The players trust him and they are open with him. I don't think the same could be said about a lot of our other beat writers. And personally, I prefer my team's beat writer to respect the players and coaches so in turn, they give him the personal feel insider information should have. I'll get my smear pieces from the national guys.

I really think Parrish would like to cover something else. He's just good at covering hoops and sticks with it.

I'm thinking he'd like to do the TMZ thing or maybe Entertainment Tonight.

I'm thinking his goal in life would be to emcee one of the Awards Shows. Like the Oscars, The People's Choice or the Grammys

RE: Jason Smith on Vernon today (7/31)
Although this Pellom stuff isn't really news, it's another reason why our fan base shouldn't get carried away with preseason hype and expectations.

Pellom may end up being a great stopgap for us for one season, but it's hard to judge a player's skills when he comes from a really, really bad team.

I'll refer everyone, once again, to the Josh Davis/Tarik Black debate earlier in the summer for support.
