For those criticizing Jason, he has to spend time with these players every day in practice. He can't be overly critical. Even in the case of Barton. He hinted at a rift between Murphy and Cyprien that time and got banned from practice. He's not making that mistake again.

I could see where Tiger fans would have a problem with the Tiger beat writer fawning over a former Georgia Tech player at the expense of Tiger fans.

Maybe they should love Thad for refusing to play for Cal?

I thought it was a white coach in general.

Iverson: Said he hasn't seen him play yet. Nick King and he are getting along very well. "Barbershop" word is that he's a ball-hog, but put a lot of emphasis on the "babershop-talk" thing.

Shaq: Closer to gangly than buff. Thinks he will do very well in getting off the floor this year - said he sees him being able to go up multiple times to tip the ball to himself.

Pellom: He'll get playing time because of his face-up game, but that he's starting to agree with Vernon in that Pellom may not be what we expected. Noted that he was not good in the Bluff and that even Ferro looked awesome in the Bluff.

Thank you.

Yeah should we like Thad now since he wouldn't play for Cal? What about JP Prince?

Our BB beat writes have dropped each time in quality since DeCourcey. Wolken was way better than Jason.

Yes, you were bashed. And rightfully so. Pellom's not tall enough to be the next Simpson.

I suppose so. I don't want to be too critical of Pellom, as I'm hoping to hit him up for some blue crab his next trip back to the mid-atlantic coast.

Maybe. I think he's just a different kind of writer.

Parrish and Wolken are both guys who love sports along with all its melodramatic nonsense. They like to write about coaches on the hot seat or what Johnny Manziel got thrown at him at a frat party. So because that's what they like, they shine in smear pieces. They can sometimes underwhelm when it comes to pieces that they can't write in a sarcastic tone (Wolken much more so).

Jason seems more like a guy who just loves the game and the success stories that surround it, so in turn, he's not as enthusiastic to bring down the players and coaches with his writing. The players trust him and they are open with him. I don't think the same could be said about a lot of our other beat writers. And personally, I prefer my team's beat writer to respect the players and coaches so in turn, they give him the personal feel insider information should have. I'll get my smear pieces from the national guys.

But, it took a lot of moxie to say it in these PC times---even if it was a documented reason.

Of course, educations was stated as an emphasis as well. Hope he learned a lot in 2 semesters

i don't sweat that bootlicker.

Yet you harbor resentment towards a guy for the decision he made as a 17 year old kid over a half decade ago.

no your wrong about that. I just don't care to hear about players who were not tigers. no hate, no resentment. also, if all I had to worry about was thad young's college choice....well, my life would be darn near perfect. I hope he makes a billion dollars.

I replied to HoopDreams with that post. "Go walk off a pier f that guy" shows resent.

Your post just displayed a bit of agitation. It's just ridiculous to think that conversations you hear on any broadcast platform are going to conform to some set of standards you have. He talked for a minute or two about Thad in the 30 minutes he was on air, and that's what you decided to focus your post on? Sort of narcissistic.

you are dead wrong. sort of stupid is your posts.

It is far to early to declare any player a boom or bust. A fair assessment should factor in results from actual games.
