It is called a "negotiation". You start high and come down and meet near the middle.

Btw, can you prove that it would raise the prices to $6? I didn't think so.

Are you saying minimum wage salaries should be negotiable? It takes specific job related skills to even think about negotiating salaries, and that's at white collar jobs.

So, Robs, with your stellar economic acumen, please tell us what effect raising employees salaries might have on the cost of the product.

Why bother going to college when they can make big bucks at the drive through window.
They aren't going to get $15/hour. Not everyone is going to go to college and not everyone is going to become a plumber or electrician. Not to mention, there are some people who like their jobs as sales people. Oh, $15/hour is not "the big bucks". It is a decent wage in this day and age but by no means "big bucks".

Because they are ENTITLED to a good paying job. It's the new American way of thinking.
You are right. We should just make them slaves. THat will allow the corps to make even bigger records profits!

Robs, these are low skill jobs that require a minimum of experience, education or training. That is why they make minimum wage.

It's nothing personal. It's reality.

And before you bring any more working class hero bull****, know that I'm the guy who put me through college. Worked two jobs doing it, one of them slinging a mop on the third shift.

I don't understand this at all. The key to an effective strike is having some leverage with ownership. The low barriers to entry for fast food service workers means owners can easily and quickly train new staff. I suppose political/social pressure in a city like Seattle needs to be considered but in general I don't see what incentive there is for management to cave.

$11.65/hr = current average pay

McDonalds current quarterly profit margin = 19.23% or $2.4 Billion

Quote:Sure, McDonald's (MCD +0.52%) is known for its reasonable prices, but the fast-food giant may be finding that even its iconic burger costs too much for many struggling customers.

A Big Mac costs about $4.20 on average in the U.S., according to the Economist's Big Mac index. In other countries, it's even higher, with Switzerland selling the highest-priced burgers, at $6.81 each.

$4.20 average Big Mac price. (LOL)

SO.....

$23,891/4 (quarterly) * 1.224 = $1337.90 per quarter per employee extra

1337.90 * 761,000 employees = $1,018,141,900 per quarter ADDITIONAL operational expense

McDonald's estimates 550 million Big Macs are sold each year (137.5 Million/quarter)

$7.40 increase PER BIG MAC = (4.20 + 7.40) = $11.60 New Big Mac Price

Who's next?

Answer the question, Robs.

Up or down?

Flip a coin if you have to. If you can find one.

You might want to fix your post because a large number of workers in these positions are not kids and actually have families.

Having a family is in no way related to a person's skill set when it comes to acquiring a job.

So screw the poor...that's what you're saying.

Maybe so. However, one should evaluate employment prospects BEFORE deciding to have kids. Sounds crazy, doesn't it?

It's simple math, Drew.

If you've made it to middle age and haven't developed skills beyond what it takes to flip burgers, you don't get the Porsche.
