RE: ODU Master Plan
I could live with Dollar Tree Field, nickname the "The Tree". Or slogans like "The buck stops here", "At the Dollar we make you holler".

I'd say our richest alum would definitely be J. Douglas Perry, one of the founders of Dollar Tree Inc. The library is named after him and his wife.

When it comes to possible large sponsorship opportunitues they do not necessarily have to be corporations headed by alumni. Other local fortune 500's that come to mind are Smithfield Foods, and Norfolk Southern. Perhaps a Thoroughbred Stadium, or the Smithfield Bacon Bowl could be in our future.

I can imagine the smell wafting down Hampton Blvd during the tailgate of the Bacon Bowl, that'd fill any stadium.

Bacon is the most under rated food. But I will not support changing the team name to the Packers.

If we can't go Packers, what about Stunners and I know that is way off topic.

I am thinking like the rest of the posts, we will be at the 35k or so level for seating. Fill in student end zone and close in from shell to shell. That should at another 6k, plus provide for visiting locker rooms underneath. They will just need to leave some space for the howitzer and score board. I would bet the farm that some form of that is stage one of the upgrade.

From Minium's latest blog post:

"The earliest that could report could be made public is June 13, when the board next meets, but I’m hearing the report might not be done until July or August."

I could see them release plans for S B Ballard at June 13th, and then the rest later. All I know is that they're only going to release it when they can get the most hype and when that hype can do something productive.

Well there goes any ties to Smithfield as they will no longer have corporate headquarters here in Hampton Roads. That's the 2nd Fortune 500 company our area has lost in a year. Not good. Now we only have 3 Fortune 500 companies.

Smithfield's HQ will still be in Smithfield, VA. Seriously, where do you come up with their HQ being moved? They couldn't have made it more clear that they will continue on as they have and their will be no relocation.

Oh stop it with your facts and well researched points, mere speculation is the way to go about things.
