RE: spring game thoughts
I'm glad we finally have some spring game thoughts. Good news on the WR's. what about our linebackers and our D-line?

RE: spring game thoughts
Drew Hare is the most impressive practice QB I've seen at NIU since I started going to practices, and that dates back to the Novak days. He was 14-17 today for 150 and 2 TDs. I don't think he has the legs of some other QBs, but that dude can throw the ball. I thought Williams looked pretty good as well, and McIntosh had a long TD run but didn't show much throwing the ball.

Our offense line struggles to block straight run plays to the backs. It did last year and today wasn't any different.

AJ and Brown both looked really good at WR.

Still not very impressed much by the defense.

Gotta get this off my chest.... Who were the clowns sitting in the west stands ripping on kids on the sideline, especially the kid in the Alabama sweatshirt.

Hey a*******, those were recruits - and potential future Huskies - at our scrimmage.

Can't argue with 7's assessment.

Brescanin looked better than I expected. Liked Bowers also. Good to see throws to the TE's. Hope that continues.

Look forward to seeing more of Charlie Miller in open space. Would like to see him AND TLL back to return kick-offs. Pick your poison.

RE: spring game thoughts
I think it's a little unfair to say the D wasn't impressive. They are at a disadvantage in a setting like today. Not to mention, I thought they snuffed out the run quite well. I think they will be pretty solid this season, biggest thing come week one is gonna be getting penetration against the Iowa o-line and stopping the run. Make them pass and we will be sitting pretty, and I think this group will be excellent run stoppers. Sebastiano came to play today. If he can find any level of consistency he has a pretty high ceiling. Miller coming off of a nagging injury looked solid, and Da'Ron looked good. I was standing on the sideline and overheard Martel talking to Demetrius Stone saying everyone has said and I quote 'Da'Ron has been getting money all spring'. I think he's matured and is a good leader of that group with TLL being a nightmare for other teams as well.

Good football weather today. As long as it doesn't rain, we're fine.

It was great to tailgate and watch football again!

Maybe they were Toledo fans?

Looks like we're SOLID at WR position. Still wondering about our LB's. I'm putting my money on Hare for backup QB. I'm looking for Bowers to step it up at RB.

Ok, so was Hare #8? I had a roster but that didn't match up with the numbers they were wearing.

Gotta agree with you on this one, a few immature children acting as students? was distracting...

Yes. Hare was 8, Williams 2.

I'm gonna disagree with these. Steve Nitz sees more of NIU football than any of us and he seems to think highest on Williams of the three behind JL. I think McIntosh is still going to the 2 this year and then Williams then Hare, I just don't think Hare gets the same type of reps as the others. Bowers time will be minimal once Akeem and Harris are back. With 2 other RBs coming in at fall camp and another 'athlete' in Turner a possible back I don't see the room. Plus, IMO Stingily has looked better than Bowers.

They weren't within earshot of the kids I hope?
