Team is well ahead of last years.

That was expected on offence where almost everyone returns, but not really on defense.

All the QB's looked sharp, but they have so much talent around them is hard not to, and the OL may be the best 2-deep ever at ASU.

OKU has none of the rust from last year and makes it look easy, and there is talent behind him.

The receivers if anything are better than last year.

Where the defense is at really surprised me. The defense is even faster than last years version, and will knock the crap out of you. Most surprising was there was not really a drop-off when the #2s came in.

This is the best ASU team I have seen in decades.

i had to dress this up a bit since i believe it is possibly seminole injun's finest report to date.

last year he dropped 'x-men' on us.....like fools we didn't believe....but who won the belt??? damn skippy.....seminole injun's squad.

the pigskin philanthropist doesn't disappoint.

i know the a-state faithful try to not claim him but by god his name isn't 'seminole topper' or 'seminole jaguar'.

Truly. He is a closet StAte fan. I like StAte, but I don't see StAte going undefeated in conference play. This will be the most competitive this conference has been in football. ULL, WKU, ULM, StAte will all have solid squads this season.

8) GSU !?!?!?

Of course this is just my prediction based on last years records and looking at the teams everyone played against last year. I'm not even thinking about transfers, freshman, and coaching changes.

Coach Hudspeth said he expects Texas State to surprise some people with the number of transfers and JC signees added to the program. I'm watching them close this spring.

I wouldn't call it getting smacked around. We lost 21-10 and you had a shoot out and won 41-31. We only had 3 real beat downs with no chance of winning last year. One was Texas Tech, NM, and USU. I think we have a hell of a lot easier schedule this year with guys who've gotten their feet wet last year. A strong recruiting class and transfers make all things possible this coming season, but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up blowing games.

We got rid of our DC from last year and brought back Bolt who had us a top 5 Defense in 2004. No more wet toilet paper defense

He's a fan of whoever is winning. He lives in Jonesboro, but hasn't been to a game in 7 years. He had personal friends on Steve Roberts coaching staff, and got a lot of inside info.

He has claimed that he believes state's message board is harming our program, and at least twice in the last few years he claimed that he was no longer an ASU fan because of us. At that point he claimed to be a fan of Arkansas, Texas, Southern Miss, Memphis, and a couple other teams.

My favorite part of his history was when he went on to the Memphis board and tried to clarify some posts he was making with comments that he had always been a big fan of Memphis. It didn't work out that well.

Imagine what dahbeed would be like if he refused to attend a WKU game, and tried to pretend he was an MTSU fan during his off hours.

By the way, this is the most talent ASU has had in decades, but the QB situation is what is going to keep this from being the best team. We return basically every position on the field but the most important.

I hope so, the stronger everyone gets the better it will be for the SBC. Just need to whoop every OOC teams the SBC plays against.

RE: Let's switch things up a bit. Give your predictions for 2013
I will put my rankings in tiers because I just don't know enough about each team just yet.

(1) Arkansas State - Lots of talent and very favorable schedule. Playing at Auburn and Missouri as their BCS conference foes, it wouldn't surprise me at all if stAte goes undefeated this coming season. The Red wolves have Louisiana, which I consider second place, in Jonesbore after an open weekend. Some possible places where ASU may loose are Troy (should the red wolves win at Auburn they may have a let down against the Trojans), also playing at ULM and WKU.

(2) Louisiana - Overall a very favorable schedule as well with ULM and troy at home and at WKU after an open date. The Cajuns also have Arkansas and Kansas State as their BCS competition which I suspect they will go 1-1.

(3) WKU - As far as SBC play goes the hilltoppers have the most favorable schedule. WKU gets stAte, UL and Troy all at home with and the hilltoppers get a week off before playing Louisiana.

(4) TxSt - 2013 will see the bobcats' best defense since probably the 1999 season (we had three players drafted off that defense). The bobcats will have one of the best running attacks in the SBC this upcoming season as well. Also keep in mind that the WAC was actually a pretty decent conference last year with 3 teams (SJSU,USU and LaTech) that had their best team in years and we were very competitive with 2 out of those 3. Our biggest weakness is the QB position, which probably won't be settled until SBC play starts. TxSt will also have a somewhat favorable schedule with ULM and WKU coming to San Marcos and an open date before heading to Jonesboro to play ASU.

(5) Troy - Haven't read anything about them yet, but I figure that they won't be down for very long. I see the trojans starting up strong in the beginning of the season, but then they have to play ULM, WKU, Louisiana and Ole Miss all in a row then they get a rest before ending the season with TxSt.

(6) ULM - The warhawks went 5-0 against FAU, FIU, UNT, MTSU and WKU. Of those schools only WKU will be back for 2013. playing Oklahoma, Wake Forest and Baylor as their BCS competition I expect that they will go 0-3 in those games and I just don't think that the warhawks will go as well in a leaner and meaner SBC.

(7) USA - Looking at 2012, the jaguars were very competitive with stAte, but overall they got beat by some pretty bad programs. While I'm certain there will be some improvement I just don't see it as enough to make a difference for 2013.

(8) Georgia State - In 2-3 years the panthers might be ready for FBS, but 2013 will be a tough year for Georgia State fans.

Since this one is late this year a lot will come down to where we both are at the time.

Will it be a pseudo-championship game? Will one of us have already wrapped up the championship? Will we both be already out of the running?

8) GSU - Surprise everyone under their new coach. (7-0)

1) ULL, really the top 3 is hard. Each team has a chance of coming out on top.
2) ASU
3) ULM
4) TXST 4-3 with wins against USA, GSU, Troy if they have a repeat of 2012, and an upset win against any of the others putting us in 4th.
5) WKU, best win was against asu. Besides that you beat teams that weren't that note worthy.
6) Troy, only if they repeat 2012
7) USA, I really just seeing you beat GSU.
8) GSU !?!?!?

Of course this is just my prediction based on last years records and looking at the teams everyone played against last year. I'm not even thinking about transfers, freshman, and coaching changes.

The same
2012 TROY team that beat Navy who in turn smacked Texas state around?:stirthepot:

I wouldn't call it getting smacked around. We lost 21-10 and you had a shoot out and won 41-31. We only had 3 real beat downs with no chance of winning last year. One was Texas Tech, NM, and USU. I think we have a hell of a lot easier schedule this year with guys who've gotten their feet wet last year. A strong recruiting class and transfers make all things possible this coming season, but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up blowing games.

We got rid of our DC from last year and brought back Bolt who had us a top 5 Defense in 2004. No more wet toilet paper defense
From TROY.

That was a very different time in CFB...the philosophy was the 3 yds in a cloud of dust...the spread offense is an equalizer, as other teams in the league have taken note of. I still believe we have one, if not the best, offenses in the SBC. We just didn't find the endzone like we have in the past. Improved defensive performance should bring about a higher win total this season.

RE: Let's switch things up a bit. Give your predictions for 2013
Not ranking...just putting thoughts

stAte - down a little due to QB, up a little otherwise with tons of weapons...which will be the decider?
Troy - have the offense...now may have the defense
WKU - had the bodies but a hard-headed coach with a philosophy....now have a coach who will use the bodies however needed
USA - not trying to go too fast....improvement continuing....how far down the road has the tortoise come?
UL - frustrated and hungry, have the team, have the coach....will they get the breaks?
ULM - solid giant-killers with a great QB that should win it all....but have they been figured out? Will tradition of inconsistency win again?
TXST - using their strengths to the max in a hurry-up FBS strategy....should surprise people...but is it still too soon?
GSU - need to just concentrate on the basics and come out with something positive

It's a critical year for SBC teams to win OOC. If this lineup can win OOC then we set the stage properly for our new additions and we set our conference up as a future player. If we don't win OOC then we will have a a period of rebuilding our conference brand from scratch again.

RE: Let's switch things up a bit. Give your predictions for 2013
1)UL - Top dog, return a lot from a very good team including the QB who was amazing down the stretch. Improved defense once switched to a 4-3. The downside is playing as the favorite, we usually play better as the underdog.
2)Troy - Return finally, Corey Robinson is a great QB, I don't think they have it in the tank to win it all this year, but enough to put a scare in the league.
3)WKU - It will be hard to win the league when everyone has a target on you. While not the favorite, everyone wants to hang a loss on em and especially beating petrino will be a big motivating factor.
4)ULM - Hard to predict this team, if Browning stays healthy all year, I think they compete with UL for the top spot, but he did not play all 12 games (or 13 last year) in the past 2 seasons.
5)stAte - New coach and new QB, they won't be down long, but I think if there is a season stAte can be had, it's this year.
6)Texas State - Up and coming program, I could see them moving up all the way to #3, but until it's proven on the field, have to keep them here
7)USA - Love the program, its just too early for it to be their year.
8)Georgia State - It's gonna be a very painful season for the panthers.

We were actually a better team last year than we showed. Malzahn is a very good coach...but he is also very hard-headed. Early on he was more wedded to his philosophy than he was his team.

I also got the impression that he was biased against his team and was thinking of them as a lower level of talent than he was used to and thus needed to "play safe" and "keep it simple".

stAte fans got very frustrated with how that team was used early on. It was if we knew the team and what it could do a lot better than he did.

It seemed to get through to him after the WKU loss and he decided to gamble. That is a mark of a good coach...that you can learn from errors.

Both stAte and WKU may have to deal with that sort of thing this year also.

stAte benefits from having some of the former staff retained who can pass on some of that learning...particularly Thompson who has been around the block many times. WKU, I believe, retained nobody.

WKU benefits from having a coach who has actually been a head coach before.

They also have the best coaching staff in the SBC, again, which is saying a lot because there are some first class coaching staffs in the SBC.

Sorry, just the truth. Enjoy the offseason.

They come to Monroe this year and ULL did them a favor last year by knocking browning out for the game with them. So, forgive me if I don't pencil in a L for that game.
Like your attitude and your team. Can say the same about Troy, UL, WKU and even South Alabama and Tx State and , and expect all to have successful seasons.

When it comes to playing this ASU team, you have my sympathies in advance. I would say the same thing to last years ASU team, if it had the misfortune were playing this years version.

This will be the best team the SBC has produced, and should be even better going forward.

Claiming they'll go undefeated in conference play is extremely... confident.

I believe 99% that WKU will win the SBC championship this coming season with Petrino at the helm. But I'm not confident we'll go undefeated in conference play.

We WILL beat UK and we WILL beat Tennessee though.

1) Seminole Indian isn't a stAte fan.

2) We in Arkansas are pretty familiar with Petrino. He is an offensive guru but is not anywhere near a complete package as a head football coach. If WKU wins out this year Petrino will get all the credit. WKU fans certainly seem willing to hand all the credit over on a silver platter before a single snap. But the REAL reason that WKU is going to be tough is the football team that Taggart put together.

I think most WKU fans see Jakes graduating and instantly think we will be a better team....I think we will be better but its going to take awhile before our new QB is up to speed learning new offense..I am not as confident as some that we will go in to UT and beat them, it maybe close but just do not see us winning that game...Worried some about our DL as we lost everyone but that is about it..Everywhere else we have experience and solid players...Taggart was a good recruiter but imo a bad coach...Cannot count how many times the play came in at least second...I cannot wait to see what a real coaching staff looks like this season! I think 8 wins is something we can do and I would be pleased with that...I am not going to bet all my money or guarantee but I am confident Petrino is here two seasons...

You guys will be tough because of y'all defense and Andrews is a monster at RB.
