Definitely trouble and proceding with trepidation. That said... still happy to be a bigger have not than before. We've had more press in general in the last 4 months than the last 2 years.
You know what they say about bad press :]

New conference will get balance of $100 million as its settlement to be distributed amount all 12 members over course of new tv five year contract worth and an additional $130,000 for its new five year espn contract......total payout for new conference will be $230 million.

Nope - total payout for new conference will be the 7 year approximate 20m per year deal. The additional payout for the remaining three will be an additional approximate 100m over 5-6 years. The remaining payout for the incoming guys will be a tube of KY.

Good info. Just landing a friendly jab. I remember a number of comments bragging about the departing schools playing in MSG while the rest of us were stuck in CUSA. The more A12 puffs their chest, the more it should expect a few chin checks in the form or friendly reminders of past comments.

Remember Quote:"We will poach the ACC & Big 12"
then
Quote:" a minimum of $8-10 million"
and
Quote:"we will start an entire western division"
to
Quote:"still the best basketball league, $6-8 million, minimum"
recently
Quote:"it was never about the money, we're still way better than C-USA"
now
Quote:"Conference America!"
The lesson:
Keeping moving those goal posts and you can be winners too.

RE: Trouble in Paradise?.......
"A better analogy would be if someone sold you a house and then after you signed tore out all the copper wire and water pipes and sold them and kept the money and expected you pay what you agreed in the contract. That doesn't make any sense and would never stand up in court. The argument isn't that the market wasn't what was expected an the TV contract is less. The argument is that the 3 remaining schools sold off part of the value of the league that was what the 6 schools agreed to join and are now trying to keep as much of that money as possible.
Like I said everyone involved agrees that the new schools deserve compensation, they are just deciding what the number will be."

I have been doing a lot of reading without commenting, but I have to say that the above quote best summarizes this entire discussion. Just like any other business deal, the opposing parties will negotiate their a$$ off to get the best possible deal. These guys are slugging it out at the table, and when the dust settles, they will walk out all smiles with everybody having their new best buddies for life. Nothing we say here will change any of that.
Best wishes to all -- the A12 and our new C-USA brothers.

Looks like "America 12" isn't a done deal. From ESPN:
"We have not chosen a new conference name at this time and there are no favorites," Aresco said in a statement. "We are going through a thoughtful evaluation of potential names for our conference and will select a name in a timely manner."
Any more guesses on the new name?

So much turmoil. Another sign of the Apocalypse, sigh.
Say, if the nbe members do get more money than why not the ncusa members. They can sue to get more or some of the departing schools exit and credits monies. Isn't it the same?

RE: Trouble in Paradise?.......
If the remaining 3 schools balk at giving more money to the new nbe schools why don't those schools just leave those three behind and form their own league. Afterall there ISN'T any more big east. And you have enough members for a league already. I'm sure you would be grandfathered in because of circumstances not being of your making.
I'll send my consuling fees later.

Bingo...you hit the jackpot...
Oh, and if they did they would lose the 2013 AQ bid money...and lose the NCAA auto-bid...not gonna happen
Precisely. There is only one thing that's going make them leave. It's the ACC.
More specifically it's what the Big Ten does next and how the ACC responds. That's where the attention should be focused.
Jim Delaney wants in the south so bad he can already taste the fried chicken.
I'm sure the chicken is the only reason the bloated old stuffy guy wants into the south.
