RE: Ticket prices to hold for next season ??
However, regarding basketball, wouldn't we actually expect the "overall cost" of the tickets to go up, as more people will be willing to donate more money to get better seats? So, to maintain you current seats you might have to increase your donation?

I'm an out-of-towner, so forgive me if I have the details wrong.

Either way, I'm not trying to throw cold water on the idea that the ticket prices are staying the same (that is great!), but the reality might be that you can expect it to cost more to secure the same seats next year.

I will buy 2 season tickets and donate the ones that I can't make due to work. Hopefully I can make 2-3 and there will be a butts in the seats either way.

I would assume that there will be some folks increasing their TSF donations to get better seats next season but I'm betting it won't be many.

$55 is an embarassment and that kind of money does not move the program ahead. But I get why they do it.

The FB Pogram needs revenue and we can't discuss an OCS selling tickets for $5 to $10 a game.

except for when the school does a complete re-seating (everyone must go back and re-choose), you cannot be moved from your seats just because someone increased their donations. They will still only get a pick of empty seats, not seats of people who are renewing.

No offense, man, but no one in the athletic office is discussing an OCS anymore. The Liberty Bowl has stepped it's game up and is a suitable venue for our needs.

Raising ticket costs to $200 would do nothing but scare people off. We need to build a following and show people that the Tiger football experience can be successful and fun. I've talked with all of my friends who normally pick up tickets on the way into the game and convinced them that buying a season ticket will do significantly more to help the program. With season tickets being $55, it was impossible for them to say no. Hopefully, in three to four years, we will have a brand that will attract 40-50,000 people who are willing to pay more for the product.

this :iagree:

I think I have atleast 16 new season ticket holders joining me next year. .. the $55 cost is the key becasue it is low enough to make a commitment without thinking about it, asking the spouse, or saving up for it ..

Nope. I know of two "new fans" that were going to make donations to get lower level seats based on going into the big east. with that imploding they are both backing out.

If every football ticket holder, or even 2/3, bought an extra ticket for Youth Villages or another youth charity, we could reach that 40,000 goal. Now, we would have to scrounge up some kids, but.....you get my drift.

That's too bad. One of many reasons we are where we are.

Hey B, do your friends realize that everybody in the BE right now will likely be playing in the BE next season, too, except for 'Cuse and Pitt? The others probably aren't leaving until July 1, 2014.

yes and they determined it would be easier and cheaper to buy from scalpers for the few games they wanted to see. they were major disappointed

Too bad they aren't there to support MEMPHIS instead of watching the opposition. Seems to be becoming a trend.

at $175 per ticket the opposition does matter

I understand but it will still be better than cusa is now.....for some that's just not good enough for others it is. Memphis fans should be used to being on the short end of the stick by now. It IS disappointing for sure but not disappointing enough to sit at home. I guess it just boils down to what you want to spend your entertainment $$ on.

Not gonna happen

You know what else didn't happen? The BE supposedly forcing us to increase ticket prices.

And it never was going to happen even if schools hadn't left, because that's not how it works.

It works exactly like this. Prices either increase or stay the same based on what the market will bear.
