Ticket prices to hold for next season ?? - missjtiger - 02-04-2013 03:10 PM

University of Memphis football and basketball ticket prices will remain the same from the 2012-13 season to 2013-14.

Feb. 4, 2013

The University of Memphis football and basketball teams take on extremely difficult and challenging schedules in 2013-14 when the Tigers become a member of the BIG EAST Conference.

Facing such opponents as Louisville, Cincinnati, Temple, Georgetown, Marquette, Villanova, Connecticut and St. John's among others, Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and FedExForum will host championship-caliber games with each opponent the Tigers host next year in both sports.

"We feel that it is important to say thank you to our fans and supporters who have remained so loyal to the Tigers over the years," said Athletics Director Tom Bowen. "The fan support and passion for our programs has never wavered and we continue to rank among the nation's attendance leaders in basketball year after year.

"Hopefully, we can give back to our fans by holding the line on ticket prices in both football and basketball as we move to the BIG EAST Conference next year," Bowen continued. "We fully expect that the FedExForum will take on the electrifying atmosphere of an NCAA Tournament game with each game played next season."

"Hopefully."

I for one was prepared to pay more for a better product.

Every single Tiger fan should purchase Tiger football season tickets. At $55 a season ticket, it's a freaking bargain. And doing this would help our athletic program more than anything else. It's time to step it up.

Great idea, but even more:

1. buy tickets
2. show up at each home game. Pack the stadium.

wait, so football is staying at $55, which was reduced due to no marquee team, and the new season will have both a "marquee" team AND an extra home game??

Damn, that's a good deal.

yep that sadly few will take advantage of hoping that Autozone buys tickets again.

For $55, our home football opponents will (should) be Duke, Ark St, UT Martin, UCF, Cincinnati, SMU, Temple. There is no reason, after the way we closed out last season, that we dont sell 35K season tickets. That's $7 a game. You'll spend more than that on one can of beer.

Actually, Tiger Baseball is best deal in town.. home games will be free admission this season, with exception of games at AutoZone Park.

As long as this info doesn't get out there too far --- sounds like a great place to take a date.

think we could do that if our stadium only held 34k?

Cincinnati and Temple are the new teams we haven't seen in quite a while. It's not Boise State or Louisville but it is a damn sight better than UTSA, North Texas, La Tech, or Florida Intl.

I presumed the cost would be $60 minimum for FB.

It is indeed a really good deal. There is ZERO reason for TIGER Nation to not collectively buy 35-40k season tickets. None.

Now, I still think the BB season tickets will be at least 25% higher. For next year, it is a deal if MEMPHIS is given at least 4-5 seriously good home conference games. Assuming an 18 game Big East schedule, there is nothing wrong with this lineup (assume Temple is the mirror opponent for MEMPHIS) -

H - Notre Dame, Georgetown, Marquette, Cincinnati, Temple, UCF, SMU, Providence, DePaul
A - Louisville, Villanova, Connecticut, St, John's, Rutgers, Temple, Seton Hall, USF, Houston

Boss man, did you read the OP closely? It says they're holding prices on both football AND basketball for our first BE season in each sport. No 25% hike for BB, as you were thinking.
