Tanya, I'm telling you as an Independence resident, check out the Trellises in Florence, extremely close to his work and very easy drive to Cincy plus all the restaurants and shopping he could ever need right in Florence.

If he's ever ready for something more permanent, there are literally thousands of good, cheap single family homes in Independence.

Good luck.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, spent 24 years there until I bought a house in Independence a year ago. The community is great and really affordable.

I'm not an expert on NKY yet but what oneuchoopsfan said is what I would have recommended. PM me if there's anything in particular you'd like to ask. As a new member of Independence, I probably have a unique perspective. Hell, I'll even take the guy out for a beer sometime if he'd like. We're practically the same age.

Spent a couple years hanging around Northern KY in college. I would also recommend Crestview Hills and Fort Thomas areas

Taylor Mill, Ft. Mitchell, Independence has some recently built apartments. All are close enough to downtown yet far enough away to save some of the headache of rush hour driving.

Independence Oaks are brand new and are about 5 minutes from FedEx.

Not as close to expressway and Downtown though.

RE: OT: Please help...? about moving to KY / Cincy area
Yep Beercat, been to two different sites. Neither were low end anything, nicely equipped. One of the apartments is one bedroom for my son who is 26, 800.00 month. He was paying 1200 monthly for a house in NJ two years ago. So he and I were pleasantly surprised. Very nice. He did not have a river view, but many do, slightly more. A young man of 24 can live anywhere if he has the money. Age means nothing. They are very nice, many young people living in these apartments. I can tell you I was totally surprised by the price, location and amenities'.

Good luck in your search Tanyaskees

Depending g on budget. I would get a place downtown. Vibrant lots of fun.

There are a couple complexes in Hyde park that have always had a ridiculous percentage of beautiful professional single women and swimming pools. A 24 yr olds dream.

There are very nice apartments in Taylor Mill right off the interstate I-275. That locations put you close to Independence and you are only 15 minutes from the river and Cincinnati Banks. Plus the rent is reasonable for a younr guy just starting out.

I believe Jarr (the very drunk threatening poster of years past) lives in Covington.

Let me qualify this by saying I'm a city guy who is now living the suburban dream. Can't say I'm enamored with it.

I'm sure Florence is nice for those who like suburbia, but it's nothing but chain restaurants and big box stores.

I'm not sure what the tolerance is for commute, but I really enjoyed my younger days in cheap apartments in Oakley and Mt. Lookout. Safe, full of young people, close to everything.
