And now we have written PROOF that our lack of an on-campus stadium is the logging chain around our collective neck...

USM..."a nice stadium"? He's obviously never sat in those stands.

But it's obvious what we lack is what is killing us on the recruiting front.

There's no doubt in anyone's mind UAB needs an OCS. Not even in those that are keeping us from having one.

Bless their sniveling, cowardly, backward, thin-skinned, racist, animal-abusing, ambulance-chasing, politician-buying, knuckle-dragging hearts.

Reminds me of several tweets I saw from attendees to the BBVA Compass Bowl. In a nutshell, they all wondered how UAB could get any recruits playing in the dump that is Legion Field.

Oh, I know everyone knows that... But, here it's written in black and white, and that we can use as impetus to our advantage. We can point to this every time, time after time, until they get so sick and tired of it... Sort of like the CIA agent in Zero Dark Thirty and how she writes the day since the captured evidence of Abu Ahmed's link to a possible UBL hideout on the director's window. Just keep redirecting them to this article when they continually turn their backs to us...

RE: Birmingham area football recruits weigh in on their defections from UAB
It is bad that we lose any recruits, however i will say we didnt lose much from the vestavia kid or SP QB. I saw Robinson play against Hewitt-Trussville this year and he got dominated by a 200lbs tackle who is going nowhere. As to the SP qb, there is a reason why he hadnt gotten any offers from D1 schools until recentley. UAB offered him because he was a "local kid" and thats McGee's MO. The UAB offer later led to a Southern Miss offer. You would think with that many passing yards and holding all the SP passing records he would have gotten a few D1 offers considering he would have had to break Caudle's records over there. As for the kid from Chelsea. I think he is a good player. I was recruited by both UAB and Troy. I took a visit to Troy and new from the first step out of the car that there was NO WAY i was going to school down there in the middle of nowhere. Yes Troy has a OCS but the rest of the facilities are no better if not worse than UABs. UABs weight room and training room is without a doubt better and lockerooms are about the same. (both not good). Kid must not care much about education because we all know which school your degree looks better from. Anyway thats my 2 cents and rant on this subject.

Do you actually think they give 2 rat 01-rivals about that or our opinion about it? As long as they control the UA system & the state & their precious isn't harmed (woe be to any who do it harm) they couldn't care about public opinion of them on the issue & since they for the most part control state media they can easily do any damage control. Until we get leadership at this university at all levels nothing will change & anytime someone who is they're forced out in some way.

UAB really needs the city to get behind the program. We already know that the local media trashes UABs attendance for ball games and im pretty sure that coaches who recruit against the Blazers also bring this up to recruits. Yes the OCS is needed and in my opinion should have already been built but I will say the Legion Field looks a lot less dump-ish when its full. Fan support along with the OCS will be key. Notice I said OCS AND fan support! Playing in a brand new empty stadium doesn't exactly help the cause either.

I doubt he was going there to sit in the stands.

By nice stadium, he probably means small, compact, loud and has a great video screen to watch himself on replays.

Southern Miss has a very good stadium. I have played their twice and it was very loud despite not being sold out.

When Nebraska played at USM, the TV folks pointed out the new football buildings around the field and how they upgraded the school's program. Yes, we have a problem with Legion Field but we really need the addition of up to date football buildings on campus AND at least a mid-sized OCS since we are competing with schools who are building or have already built such facilities. Even Jax State has built up its football facilities recently.

We can argue all about the talent level of the players who switched, but the talk will not be about what they lacked but what they left for in other schools. I didn't see anything hostile in the reporting done by Sentell who mainly writes about high school sports so this is in his wicket. He just told us much of what most already acknowledged as to needs at UAB. Now, what can UAB do about it in the present situation?

I continue to hope we sign and get to campus next fall the level of talent we need to make a positive difference in our records. See you next Wed.

McGee said when he took the job he didn't think we needed a stadium(something to that effect). I wonder if he still feels that way after losing such a substantial # of recruits.
Perception is everything.
He might not feel like a stadium is a big deal but 18 yr olds obviously do. And if he knows better and didn't say so just to play nice, that stinks.
We've been over this til we are all blue in the face but some really has call like it is. And not just the folks who post here.

The UA BOT has UAB in a catch-22 situation, and members of the board know it.
