If you have pulled it then you realize how finicky that muscle is. It just takes time to heal and can linger for months...

Coach Josh Pastner said after practice Tuesday the plan is to have Black see team doctors Wednesday morning to "double- and triple-check" that the injury is just a strain and not a pull.

I believe I have since read that it is a strain, but still doubtful for tonight

A strain would be a bruise. A pull would have damaged tissue.

Anyway, it's a soft tissue injury. There's torn fibers, inflammation, and pain when you use the fibers that are injured. They're all different depending on the size of the muscle and how much of the fiber is torn. It's not like a bone where it's basically 6 weeks every time. The doctors won't be able to do anything but see how much pain he has when he moves

incorrect. These are both colloquial terms that aren't medical terminology though, so people can use them to mean different things. Maybe that is what pastner meant. A bruise is just a bruise (or hematoma if sizable blood accumulation, obviously a bruise is just the slow breakdown of subQ and deep tissue blood)
