So the MWC whored themselves out to Boise. I doubt uneven revenue sharing in today's world is a good recipe for conference solidarity. This alone might keep SDSU out of the MWC as well and allow the BE to poach teams from the MWC. Who knows?

Wow, they basically sold out the whole conference to get Boise back. Why wouldn't BSU take that deal, I don't blame them...

I really feel for SDSU. Loyal group there... I wish there was a way to keep working with them.

At this point I think even the MAC is more attractive and stable than the Big East.

I'm surprised MAC schools rarely come up for poaching. I guess its because of the markets.

thats exactly the reason why...

How can the league allow BSU to sell home games when CBS gets first pick?

It will be a while until we learn all of the details.

According to tweets now from Boise. Boise gets to negotiate its own home games but all revenue form those games goes to the league to be shared equally

Dan Wetzel ‏@DanWetzel
Boise staying in MWC. Key is home games not part of league TV deal, will be sold separately although league gets revenue
Expand

SO no the league did not sell itself out other then letting ESPN have full access to Boise games and letting BOISE cut CBS out of the PIC from getting all of their home games

It will be a while until we learn all of the details.

It will probably be a case where CBS pays the same amount for everything, but they will give a price for Boise's home games. Boise wil get all of that, and then everyone will split everything else. It's a unequal revenue sharing plan that will kill the MWC before it even gets off the ground.

I'm not sure the BE wants to go after UNLV or Fresno, but if they do, how in the hell do they say no to the BE versus living with that agreeement? They would make more money in CUSA for that matter.

I don't begrudge Boise getting anything they can. I guess the NBE and MWC (or just the MWC) are desperate enough to give BSU that benefit because I don't think they're honestly worth that at all.

Nothing against Boise, but when I see that blue field I usually switch channels. I just cannot watch their home football games. I know I'm not the only one.

RE: MWC official announcement on Boise staying
The MWC last week renegotiated its TV deal, allowing the league to continue to be aligned with CBS, but the league now controlled the ability to sell up to two separate packages of football games on their own. Previously CBS had that right because they controlled all the games.

It sounds like Boise's TV deal won't be separate in revenue, but they will pay out more for national spots (which ESPN will provide for Boise) and anyone else who gets a national spot. ESPN again screws the Big East. This conference is toast.

I would just as soon San Diego State stay. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Losing a school to the ACC or B1G is one thing, but to the MWC? Good lord.

Let's face it, the Homers were wrong about the value of the nBE football and the debbie downers were right.

Yep. SDSU's beat writer for the Union-Tribune just tweeted that the conference has agreed to a bonus for schools playing on national TV. Since that will be Boise and us one helluva lot more often than USU, SJSU and Wyoming, we're gone too. It's a concept SDSU and Boise were rumored to have advocated before wanting to join the BE.

Well, guys, it's been real. In all honesty I wish the rest of you good luck in dealing with Cincinnati and UConn cause it sure looks like you're going to need it.

They changed the terms of the deal last week.

http://www.mwcconnection.com/2012/12/21/...v-contract

CBS no longer has complete rights to the MW. They are the "preferred partner", but now the conference has the ability to sell packages of football games directly to other networks instead of CBS having to sell the packages for them.

I've heard that ESPN had a boatload of trouble negotiating with CBS (ironically, probably was Mike Aresco on the CBS side at the time) for the four MWC games they picked up last year. Now the conference can do the work themselves and reap rewards directly for that.

It's just a shell game to say they aren't getting their own deal. They'll get 300k or 500k for espn games out of the money that goes to the league which will likely be 300,001 or 500,001 per game.

What?????? The Big East that Boise left for is not the Big East they wound up with. The value of the Big East was fine until everyone left.
