I think that the city probably played down the numbers for the Liberty Bowl...don't ask me why, but they likely did.
The truth with the numbers is probably somewhere in the middle.

We actually counted the people in our visitor's side section at kickoff and there were 389 people (below the handicap area only). Others came in after kickoff (five in our group alone). Sorry Tigersonaroll, your math doesn't work.

Kinda makes me wonder if tigersonaroll really is a Tiger fan. Kinda sounds like trolling to me. Dude stating 1k-1.5k from that picture makes me wonder if he's the one with an agenda coming over here just to spew a whole bunch of crap. In another words, I think he's full of ch!t.

He is. Total troll.
Here's an interesting pic of a half full stadium (according to JBranston and the Flyer) from last years Liberty Bowl game:
This picture pretty much invalidates and discredits the entire Flyer story.

The packed house for the Louisville game in 2004 represented an actual attendance of 30k, apparently.

It was a GREAT crowd, but not a packed house. I think it was about 7,000 less than capacity.
That game still holds the C-USA record for the highest attended conference game. That record will likely never be broken.

RE: Tigers Actual 2012 Attendance For All Six Home Games
I emailed Branston regarding the accuracy of those numbers. Good guy - and he's already forwarded my concerns to his contacts at the city and LB. I basically told him I was at at least half of those games and the numbers are way off.
He's just reporting what the city had, which is clearly wrong.

Agreed. This picture CANNOT be argued with, as the stadium is nearly full.

I didn't mean literally packed, just that it was huge. 52k or thereabouts.

Well, between jchittick's picture of the east side (page 8) and jeb's picture of west side (page 10) someone needs to take an hour and just count the people at the USM game.
Any volunte...um, anyone willing to step up?

Look at the picture in this article for the largest crowd of the year at 29,000 and that's on the UAB side of the field. With the possible exception of Rice, that crowd is MUCH smaller than any of the games at the Liberty Bowl this year.
They haven't finished counting yet for the UAB-Memphis game, but they expect it to be below 11,000. Who went to the UAB game that also went to the home games this year? How did that crowd compare to our home games?
PJ, I went to he UAB game in Bham, along with the Tulane and USM games Memphis and here are my thoughts.
a) There were about 2000 people (2500 MAX) actually at the UAB-Memphis game in Bham. The numbers were so low that I was able to count the actual number in several sections and then approx the number in similarly populated sections. I am VERY confident with the 2000-2500 number. I was actually shocked at such a low turnout, since Alabama and Auburn were both playing VERY WEAK non-cong opponents, UAB had won two straight, and the weather was GREAT!
b) I would also say that there was 15k-18k at the USM game, although that is strictly a guesstimate.
Bottomline, there was SIGNIFICANTLY more at the two games in Memphis than there was in Bham. I am curious as to how they could STILL be counting the attendance at the UAB-Memphis game - I mean how long could it take?
Also, there was considerably more people at the USM game than at the Tulane game, which is contrary to the numbers presented in this story, which only adds to the evidence that they are a crock.
uab home side. announced was 9k i think
as long as we are at it - this is mtsu
and this is marshall (22k announced)
