There were a lot more than 8398 for the S. Miss game. I can assure you that.

Same with Tulane. Unless my eyes were deceiving me.

There may have only been 5034 at the Rice game after the deluge, but it sure looked like there were a lot more than that in the LB before the bad weather started.

2nd "article" in a week this prick has done putting down our university.

i believe these numbers are baloney....either several turnstiles not calculated or stubs not counted.

I doubt it. The University has for the past ten to fifteen years provided attendance on tickets sold as opposed to butts in the seats. Tickets sold does also include: the band (local and visiting) and eveyrone in a suite.

The actual attendance number for years is dramatically less than announced.

Dont feel alone on this one, it happens most of the time in the SEC. Ole Miss and Tenn are the worst at this.

It is what it is, if you have been attending games for the past ten or so years and using the announced attendance as validation, you have been mislead. Even if it looks like 50k in attendance its usually 38k. If you have a very full stadium, the seats are so close that you are literally touching eveyrone and thats true across the entire stadium. While you maybe close to some indivduals you have to take the full stadium into account.

The best one is the MTSU 'crowd'. Before anyone tells you that MTSU will 'bring at least 2k', tell them to think again!

On another note, while I am not exactly thrilled with the current status of the nBE, it warms my heart to see that Tulane will STILL be on the conference slate and a great road trip continually beckons!

RE: Tigers Actual 2012 Attendance For All Six Home Games
there was an article a few weeks ago with the former BE commissioner and Roy Kramer where they both felt that the days of larger stadiums (SEC) were potentially over becuase of rivalries moving and too much TV.

The days of absolute large and increasingly large crowds are most likely over.

Kramer made the point that large stadiums in excesss of 80K were most likley over...

Since it was the most recent game...there sure seemed to be a lot more than 8,000 people for Southern Miss.

Seems about 10,000 short.

That's just wrong. I saw some on computer and was there for the Rice game, and I'm very good with estimating crowds (for example I can tell you accurately the difference between 60 people and 100 people in a given space, and can do that by multiples too. I deal with actual counts all the time.

Meanwhile I can't imagine what motivation the city's ticket takers have to count all of the ticket stubs for Tiger games.

So we could barely fill up the Liberty Bowl once with total attendance? That's pretty sad.

Look at the picture in this article for the largest crowd of the year at 29,000 and that's on the UAB side of the field. With the possible exception of Rice, that crowd is MUCH smaller than any of the games at the Liberty Bowl this year.

They haven't finished counting yet for the UAB-Memphis game, but they expect it to be below 11,000. Who went to the UAB game that also went to the home games this year? How did that crowd compare to our home games?

Rained our first game too. I admit there wasn't anywhere near 29K after halftime.

I posted a comment critiquing the numbers. Does anyone else see it?

Wait, this is based on city employees hand counting ticket stubs? :domokun:
