They played A10 basketball. We played CUSA basketball. Nuff said. I would LOVE to be in the A10 BTW. It would give us a schedule to sell to recruits for the FIRST time in ECU BB history.
It is going to be interesting to see Charlotte basketball fares after a few seasons of playing both FB and BB in the nCUSA. I hope they are able to continue their success.
You couldn't sell basketball to recruits with Marquette, Cincy, Louisville and us ten years ago?
You'll have to ask Marshall's AD Hammy about that, he never did anything for basketball totally ingored it and even fired a good coach, that had he been given a budget to work with could have done something. Atleast we have a budget worth a damn now and the AD is paying attention to basketball.
Charlotte has always tried at basketball, ECU didn't. We are now, and for those of us who have suffered threw years of bad basketball, we know what that looks like and we know what Lebo has done in 2 years. They aren't the same, this isn't rebuilding a team, it's building a program over again, the right way, not half arsed, like we have for decades. You can't undo decades of bad basketball in 2 years.
Not trying to be an ass, but what in Lebo's past makes you think he can build a program?
He did very well at Tenn. Tech taking them from 7th to first and got them an NIT bid in 4 or 5 seasons of play in the MV conference. Does that prove anything? I have no idea. Auburn must have seen something in him.

Did I say he get us where we want to be, no. No I don't Lebo is the final answer at ECU. But, he is changing the culture around the program. Other than a hand full of major donors, no one gave two chits about basketball. We hire Lebo and after anouncing the pratice facility fund raising we had nearly 5,000 people give 15 million dollars to pay for it. We doing now what SHOULD have been done 15 years ago. GET PEOPLE TO CARE. In the past no gave two chits who we played, D-1, DII didn't matter. Now Lebo and Hooland have been told the D-II and non-D-1s have to go. People actually get pissed when we lose a game, people actually have a little hope now, and now talk about basketball. Before you'd be luck to see bb talked about much on BYB. It used to be 2 months of hype for baseball.

I do hope ECU can turn their basketball program into something to be proud of, or at least something to take seriously. I grew up in eastern NC, and no ECU fan gave a crap about ECU basketball. I would watch some of their games on WITN, and see an empty Minges Coliseum. I actually have cheered for ECU in basketball, hoping that they might contend, since they are usually an underdog. However, I am glad my Niners got the win, and that they are 7-0. Good luck to ECU's basketball program in the future. I will be rooting for you, unless you are playing the Niners.

Thank you. The rest of your comrades could take a lesson from you on how to be a good winner.... and... Some of my comrades could for sure be better losers. We damn sure have had enough practice!!

Hey, I wanted ECU to improve if they were going to be in the same conference as us. With you guys moving on, I don't really have any reason to care about the program. Maybe we'll reunite in the nBe.

If Charlotte had started a FB program 10 years ago?...ECU would still be in CDOA today..

The two hardest fouls of the game were both by Kemp. One was called flagrant and the other the refs discussed for a while before deciding not to call it flagrant.
Kemp didn't flagarantly foul Braswell. They both were going for the rebound, which is why the 2 refs corrected the bad call made by the other ref.
Two guys just going for the ball? I've seen softer tackles on the football field. Also interesting that you didn't defend his actions on the foul on Henry.
In all seriousness; your players could be called for fouls on just about every trip down the floor. The refs have to give you guys some leeway, because that is your style of play; but those are still fouls.
What game were you watching? That technical came after the refs failed to call the previous 3 fouls in a row leaving half of our players on the ground. Since that play they started calling ticky tacky crap the rest of the night. Several non-fouls leading ECU to the free-throw line. They called several fouls on anticipation with no contact. The call on Henry when he had his feet set for 2 solid seconds. The extra shot they gave to ECU for our players simply boxing out... It goes on. At very least, it was called bad both ways, but to call that home cooking is rather naive IMO.
What you call ticky tack is called a foul in all of college basketball, except in the B10 and at Charlotte.

I was kind of disappointed in the turnout by ECU fans. I figured they'd bring a few loud folks.

Dear God man, has it come down to this? I logged in to give ECU a few compliments and I see this garbage. Give up it is sad if this is what you resort to.
To the ECU posters with logic, I'm actually impressed with what ECU brought the table. I never thought they would win from the outset but they will make a little noise if they can consistently knock down shots and continue their play on the boards. Best of luck for the rest of year...BEAT THOSE ******* TARHOLES!!!!

We will get physically pushed around by some of the teams in the A-10. You had better hope you do not get into the nBe for all sports if you think we were tough.

Thanks to the Pirates for a good game! I think you've got a strong core, just need to look to move it inside the arc a little more! Hopefully you guys have a great rest of the season!

Conference Dead on Arrival.
You know, I am happy that the Pirates have gotten what they so desperately wanted by joining the nBe. But as is stands right now I think the nBe is trending downwards fast, and C-USA is maintaining status quo. The loss of ECU football is significant but we have upgraded on Tulane with MTSU already.

Congrats. You guys beat our ass last night and it was a pretty pathetic performance on the glass and downlow. I thought you gave us plenty of good outside looks, they just haven't gone in the entire year and that's starting to get concerning. We are a shooting team and if we aren't shooting well we aren't going to beat a lot of good teams especially that play the style you guys do, that's pretty clear. I thought our gameplan on D really sucked last night too, didn't even try a zone. We'd have been better of putting everyone in the paint and making you beat us from outside.
It's still a long season and I would have said that win or lose. I'm not writing our team off yet. If we had only hit our FT's like we normally do and about 32% of our 3's which is a pretty sorry percentage at that, and well below what these guys shot last year, we'd have been right there in it at the end despite the pathetic performance in the post. I just don't see how we shoot 27% on the year for the entire year from 3.

Good game Charlotte I knew it would be a different animal from the rest of our schedule with our young front court facing some real talent. You're big men really took ours to school all game long. Hopefully they learn from this and look better in conference play. Good luck the rest of the way Niners.

Kudos to you on coming back to eat your crow. Charlotte fans suffered through complete reliance on the 3 for too long, so we know the pain.
You can play the "if we shot better" game, but we can say the same thing on the flip side. "If we didn't go 1-9 from deep, or if we shot a bit better from the line," etc. Either way, you guys still hit at a 44% clip for the game to our 48%, which is solid for both clubs. Our height gave you guys some issues, as evidenced by our points in the paint and our rebounding.
We began to sag off the 3-point D a bit when you guys weren't hot and it bit us once or twice, but nothing too terrible. I was not happy with how sloppy we got when we were up big, either. I'd like to see the team stay focused when we're cruising, rather than relaxing like they did for good stretches last night. Going to have to tighten up against Davidson.
Don't give up on your team, yet; try to remain positive and see how you come together for conference play. Best of luck the rest of the way

I have to say that is mighty big of you sir. We have quite opposite view points, and you spin with the best of 'em, but it's classy of you to concede. Good luck with the rest of your season. I'm sure our paths will cross again, whether that be in the nBE or otherwise.
