If this were to happen this would set TROY back 10 years. We might as well move back to FCS just with nicer facilities....NO NO NO NO!!!!!

Just come along with these teams to the WAC. Sure.
Appalachian is talked about in this thread a lot. There was some interesting stuff stated about realignment to the WAC. For example, did you know that we are in the CAA? Charlie Cobb really needs to do a better job of communicating to us. I imagine that you saw the article the other day about the WAC and MAC suppossedly talking to JMU about joining those conferences. I guess the WAC has offerred App, JMU, Liberty, Jacksonville State, Delaware, GaSo and others. It would probably work, but would have to schedule at least 2 other FBS teams as a home game second year.

With the article by CBSSports yesterday about a new 10 year moratorium on moving to FBS, wouldn't doubt that Liberty and some schools might join the WAC.

If the Hornets were trying to move up they would have to have an invitation from an FBS Conference. As it stands, their only hope is us, and I don't see the Belt tossing them a rope to pull 'em up from the depths of FCS mediocrity.

Why do these FCS folks continue to talk like simply deciding to ascend upward is all it takes? They have to know the rules. 03-lmfao

I can't blame them for wanting to do what Troy has done, but the simple fact is they are not Troy.

Just like Liberty, they have a great new stadium !

Florida A&M was all set to join the Sun Belt a few years back. I think one HBCU in FBS would be interesting.

No, I don't think that Ala State would be a great fit for the Belt (their football is too far behind, and they'd likely have to play too many FCS HBCU's. But they're certainly not as far fetched as Liberty and I'd prefer them to Jacksonville State.

this discussion is getting ridiculous. are you guys really discussing the possibility of a bunch of HBCU schools jumping up as a group and forming a new FBS Conference with nothing but FCS programs? 03-lmfao

If it happens then so be it....It would create a conference for the SBC to dip into without having to go to FCS.

FAMU would be the only HBCU that would work in the SBC. I do not see it working out for any other school.

Texas Southern, Alabama A&M and Alabama State would probably be included but they are all under 7,000 students. Plus the graduation rates are not very good.

Also Grambling...a little financial issues, but I guarantee they would raise the money so as to not be left behind by Southern University.

If that is the case, you have to add Prairie View to get to 12.

The conference would have a huge following.

Very huge...and Southern and Grambling would still maintain the Bayou Classic, which is broadcast nationwide around Thanksgiving.

I said a couple of days ago that this talk of a 10 year moratorium was going to make for some crazy things the next little while.

Thought I read an article about two months ago about Alabama State having some major financial trouble.
Concerning FAMU, didn't their president resign, or fired, the other day when five or six of their students were arrested concerning their drum major's hazing death? They started to move to FBS years ago but decided not to when they got in NCAA trouble didn't they?

the problem with the HBCU's moving up is that for them to be successful many of them will have to move up in a block. Otherwise, they will alienate their fan bases and reduce alumni support and dollars.

No way. ASU's stadium is beautiful BUT they dont even attempt to schedule OOC home mens bb games consistently why would they schedule home-home OOC football games? Plus their big rivalry game is with Tuskegee, which is DIVISION 2. I'm just thinking they want more money for their body bag games.

Remind me how many conference games in a row UNT won? Pretty sure Troy was getting steamrolled then just like they did last year.

And last year we were, what, 3rd?
