RE: Settle this once and for All: Fresno or AFA
Air Force, Army, and Navy seemed good back when it was dark for the Big East but adding Air Force does nothing but make you look desperate.

Air Force Academy, or California State University - Fresno.
It depends on who you ask for Boise State and SDSU its Fresno.I love the Idea of spiting up the road trip rotation between the two schools and being guaranteed to be in the State Of California every year. For the Conference as a whole its Air Force.
I vote Fresno State
Not really. This SDSU fan would rather share a conference with AFA than CSU Fresno and its not even close.

BYU.
Oh wait, this is between Air Force and Fresno State. In that case, Air Force.

AFA won't change with a step-up, they'll be a consistent 7 game winner and fade at the end of the year (more so with better teams with more funding).
Fresno since Sweeney has been a solid winning program, a step-up will do wonders for them, the Central Valley is a huge area and there's good talent to be mined there; AFA is just another school surrounding denver and there is not a lot of D1 talent in Denver.
Fresno and SDSU stepping up a level will put a dent in tweener areas like Sacramento and Southern Orange County that are equidistant between the Pac and new Big East
Fresno offer the most upside and over the last 30 years has already done as much as AFA - so, Fresno

If the NBE is supposed to be about City metro schools, Fresno fits the Bill. Yeah AFA near Denver but not the same thing. IMHO.

Colorado Springs has a metropolitan population of 645,613.
Aside from that, Air Force has a larger national following than Fresno State.

One things for sure, between the two, this is a good problem to have. Both teams have tremendous upside, and we are all but guaranteed at least one of these teams.

If AFA won't jump, Fresno will welcome an invite with open arms and legs.

Neither will Maryland, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Illinois, Oregon State, Washington State, Texas Tech, etc., but they are still valuable to their conferences.

^^Oregon State has been to and won a BCS bowl. TJ Houshmandzadah and Chad Ochocinco were their receivers at the time and the QB from that team is now our QB's coach.

The Big East has been courting them heavily for more than two years, that should be enough of a why, but it isn't.
The Air Force Academy has recognition, the Falcons are known, they come with national television exposure and high academic standards.
Fresno State doesn't have a national brand, honestly, I don't even know their nickname, and hell I didn't know they played FBS ball until people on here began lobbying for them back in December.

SDSU
Fresno
Boise
Houston (I know it's in SE Texas but much more Western than Memphis.)
As for your post... It's hard to make your case convincing, when you're advocating for more to a western division of the Big East and forgetting a team already included in that west of Houston area of yours. *GASP* SMU or Southern Methodist University is in Dallas, which makes it slightly more west within Texas than the Cougars.

Geography in sports sometimes have very little barring as to which conf/divisions teams belong to.
Heck, there was once a time when the Atlanta Braves were in the National League West...and the Atlanta Falcons were in the NFC West Divisions.
Dallas Cowboys have been in the NFC East for a very long time.

So far, 73.97% of the votes favor Air Force. Pretty definitive results from the Big East BBS board.

The way I see it: Air Force would quickly benefit the Big East just from a national appeal perspective. However, I really do think the ceiling for Fresno is much much higher than AFA. Fresno to the Big East might be exactly what the school needs to jump to that next level.

I agree with Comet. But if AFA even hesitates, then offer Fresno.
