First off, no way the MWC takes Idaho, Seattle, Denver, UTA, or Texas State. That's 5 schools, plus us that will still be around. We can just stick with them, and add two more small programs. If not that, than we can beg SDSU to return the favor for us getting them in the BE by persuading the Big West to take us. It's a california bus league, but Hawaii will be in it now, so the precendent for going outside the state has been set. If not, than we still have a THIRD option... The Big Sky. Everybody seems to forget about them. I'm sure they'd love to take our Oly Sports. So I wish everyone would just quiet down the doomsday scenarios. Hell, we would probably cut half of our sports and go independent with the rest just to remain in the Big East. Now that I think about it... Make that option number 4.

Now that we got that settled... I think we do need to add 14 now rather than in a year or two. I'm no expert, but I'd think you'd want them in before TV Negotiations for maximum value. Make them pay for 14 schools... not 13.

good to hear that there is more than just the WAC for your non-oly sports... I knew that I did not have all the information and still dont know how appealling those conferences are to your non-oly sports. Probably would do you some good and will be able to rule in those conferences.

I think you're right about the adding western team now instead of for 2015. That just does not make sense. You would have to know who will be the 14th school regardless of when they start in actual conference play.

Oh, if you're talking about APPEAL, than none of those conferences are appealing for anybody... just nothing worth leaving the Big East over.

FYI...you can do what most did and edit your user profile so that threads are not 32 pages long...and instead...most are 1 or 2 pages with just 1 click (can read all the responses).

Good point. Changing the view mode helps. Thanks.

Maybe the better question would be:

Air Force Academy or BYU?

BYU is the clear favorite.

AFA is the favorite if BYU isn't an option.

Am I too late to think that Fresno state might still have a chance?

Still going...04-cheers

This one is so long I don't have time to look back to see if I cast a vote.

It is all about Fresno State to me. The only move that makes sense.

Personally, I think we need a second California school, but you can't go wrong either way.

Not at all, but I think Air Force is the clear second option behind BYU for the conference. Of course considering that both of those schools have turned us down before, Fresno may very well have a shot. One thing that may be going well for Fresno is the oly sports issue. Being another major california school, they would appeal to the Big West Conference. Personally, If I'm in charge, I would really look into making a deal with the Big West that in exchange for adding Boise State, we free up Fresno from the MWC.

How does Marinatto getting canned effect future expansion? I'm guessing it will be on hold for a month or two until the new guy comes in. Kind of a bummer for me as I was hoping we could get #14 all settled in within the next couple of weeks. Atleast than we'd have an idea of what the conference will look like heading into the TV negotiations.

Not yet... still a chance. I hope Fresno State joins us and Boise State in the Big West and Big East... man, it just makes way too much sense. That usually means it won't happen with my experience thus far with realignment and expansion. Just know that I (and many from SDSU) am pulling for you Broncos and Bulldogs for entry into Big West/Big East.

I agree... I hope we get in... all of this drama that is going on is about people trying to make news and meet article deadlines. There are some obvious concerns but I do not believe it is the doom and gloom others are saying.
