We've always supported the troops and is something the ECU does better than most. All you can do is piss all over it, because we did post this on CUSAbbs first. Shame, shame, shame!!!!04-chairshot

One, don't tell people to shut up. Two, my point was that this thread was likely just used as fodder to make ECU look good to Big East POSTERS.

This is something Whitey decided to try and do,asked us Pirate fans to help make it happen, we have, to the point with a little more we could send a second bus. This is something to be proud of, the fact that your crying to dicredit this as just an enfort to look good to BE posters is not only sad, it show that you'll go to no end to try and tare down everything that ECU fans do that reflects good on ECU is my point. Your bashing this because whitey posted it hear, well he posted it first on BYB and then here. You couldv'e just said good job ECU, but that wouldn't in your eyes help UCF, giving ECU props for a great thing the fans did own their own without ECU offically support or pushing it. Who care (other than you) where whitey choice to post this news. Again, this was done by us fans, not ECU itself, fans bought the tickets and gave money for gas and such. Pirate fans did this on our own and you should've just said good job and been done with it.

And further more, who cares if whitey did it to help ECU with BE posters, it's not like UCF fans haven't done the samething for the post few months. Now I done, no more, not going to let this thread go down in a pissing match, to show repect the troops and the Pirate Fans that are helping them.

Lets be honest. Whitey posted it to stroke ECU's ego. If UCF had posted the same thing, we would be getting blasted by you for trying to use it to improve our image with BE posters. But we don't have to do it on the boards, we've done it on the field and court this year.

There's no need for me to start a thread about how UCF fans have bought tickets for hundreds of children at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital so the children and their families can enjoy a football game on New Year's Eve. (Did I say that out loud? 03-shhhh) We know what we are doing is a good deed for the children and families and there's no reason to blast it all over the board trying to seek the BE posters' praise.

:n00b::sylviaplath:

Guess with 33 posts you haven't read this board much or seen the warnings from the mods(hint it's at the top of the board under UCF/ECU fans). I lost count of the number of times UCF fans have post this story and that story about UCF is the top choice for the BE. Go back and read them, you won't see me bashing UCF, only defending ECU when it was attack by someone else.

Again, other than UCF fans who cares why whitey posted it here? It's something Pirate fans did own their own, ECU did do it we fans did, many those on BoneyardBanter.com did.

RE: I'm proud of Pirate fans and here is why
Our fans have been using athletic stories and articles. I was in no way condemning the fact that they sent Vets to the bowl, just condemning the reason it was posted.

And as MagicKnightmare has said, we have done things such as donate tickets, as well as others things for Veterans. It is something to be happy about, but not something to parade.

And FYI, I don't even agree with starting threads about our athletic accomplishments, but I do join in to post facts and defend UCF.

But, you didn't have to go out of your way and attack us in this thread, did you? NO you didn't, but you just couldn't help yourself. Posting what you did to start with wasn't defending UCF, but it was attacking ECU. I don't care what you think should be posted or not posted. It IMO is a good thing, maybe someone at another school would read this and next year get fellow fans to buy the tickets and put the money needed to send vets in their area to a bowl game. That is a good reason to post this. Be the spark for others to help vets around the country, again we did this without ECU's help or offical support. We bought the tickets at raised the money needed to send the vets and whitey had the bus.

Well, it was not an attack on ECU at all.

Let's just drop it then...

Not cool KnightTower. Way to go ECU fans! What you are doing for those guys is truly remarkable. Good luck in your bowl.

I think it's a great thing that ECU is selling their tickets to the bowl and taking a lot of fans. Last time I looked...UCF was still in CUSA and ECU is a rep of CUSA. So I give major KUDOS to ECU for their support for their bowl. Good job, ECU!

RE: I'm proud of Pirate fans and here is why
While I can't say with 100% that we do it, but from all reports we may out number Maryland fans on the 29th. We have as of Friday less than 700 of our 10,000 alotment left to sell. We have sold much more outside of ECU's ticket office with many going through ticket master and other places. The Bowl said that the majority of the total tickets have gone to ECU fans, to date over 35,000 sold less than 10,000 total tickets remain.

As for this thread that whitey post. This is a special thing. Whitey puts togather a bus trip for Pirate Fans every year we go to a bowl. This year with the bowl being so close, he couldn't get the people to go on the bus, many doing a day trip. He decide to do something special. He asked Pirate fans to give tickets and money to send wounded vets to the game in DC ( The Military Bowl, in Washington DC, our Nation Capital). ECU didn't put this togather, whitey did, and posters on Boneyardbanter.com gave the money. This was started by a fan and supported and made a success by fans. Whitey post as such. He titled that way "I'm proud of **Pirate Fans** and here's why....

BTW, ECU did a seprate tickets for troops sell. Which most school do.

ECU also set aside the $25 ticket in it's alotment for student, which other could purchase and donate to students so they could go for free.

Not really sure, but if I had to assume anything, it would be to just share a story about something part of the ECU fanbase did to make note that not all C-USA university fans are entirely pompous.

That is fantastic, hopefully a more active moral compass is built in other universities. :)

Quick rule of thumb: Unless its a pro-UCF thread, it won't get moved. But, try to keep that quiet. 03-shhhh

Tampa, I wouldn't call any C-USA fan(s) pompous, that would be the Big 10 and some if not most ACC schools. I think C-USA schools do some great things to support troops, children hospitals, and other things in their communities, as do other confrences and schools around the country. C-USA fans pompous, no way, we don't have the atheletic budgets the Big 10 schools do or the egos. Otherwise we ECU/UCF wouldn't be here discusing/argueing/fighting over who should get in an AQ confrence, we'd have the money to have a seat at the table from the start. Every story I hear like this makes fill good and much, much better than Delany's money grubling, give me, give me stories.

BTW, whitey hasn't posted it here, but we got word the the Military bowl will set aside 22 tickets for the vets we want to send. So, Thank You Military Bowl for helping!
