RE: TAMU not on board with PAC-16
Big12 leftovers will NOT be going to join the BigEast(8/16). Too much distance, too many BB schools, too many partial memberships - what a mess that would be (and already is).
Let's assume that the PAC-10(16) gets its wish list (PAC-10 + Colorado, Oklahoma, OklaState, Texas, TexasA&M and TexasTech)
Let's also assume, that the Big10(12) stays put with just Nebraska for now.
Then the Big12(5) is: IowaSt, Kansas, KansasSt, Missouri and Baylor.
What is to keep the Big12(5) from raiding either the MWC and C-USA for parts to get to 10 or 12? They could raid one (MWC) and go west or the other (C-USA) and work south
PLAN A: Grab 5-7 from MWC: ColState, AirForce, BYU, Utah, TCU, UNLV, BoiseSt
PLAN B: Grab 5-7 from C-USA/WAC: UTEP, Houston, Tulsa, Memphis, SoMiss, La-Tech, UAB
PLAN C: Do both (minus a couple) to get a new 16 team conference with only 2 time zones
East: Houston, SoMiss, La-Tech, Memphis, Missouri, IowaSt, KansasSt, Kansas
West: Baylor, TCU, UTEP, ColSt, AirForce, BYU, Utah, BoiseSt
I kinda like the new Big12(16) myself
Remnants of WAC and MWC merge into a 11 team conference of their own:
Hawaii, SJSU, FresnoSt, SDSU, UNLV, Nevada,
UtahSt, Idaho, NewMexico, NMSU, Wyom
C-USA remnants merge with SunBelt:
WEST: SMU, UNT, Tulsa, Rice, ArkSt, La-Laff, La-Mon, Tulane
EAST: UAB, TroySt, UCF, FAU, FIU, WKU, MTSU, ECU
Perhaps Marshall, Army and Navy join the MAC with Temple, to get a MAC-16
EAST: Army, Navy, Temple, Marshall, Buffalo, Ohio, Akron, KentSt
WEST: Miami(OH) BGSU, Toledo, EMU, CMU, WMU, BallSt, NIU
