With that said, just ONCE I'd love to see the pinheads at the MAC office who make up the schedules have CMU and NIU play midseason, instead of when the West has already been decided. Seems they've been playing them very late during the last few years.
Actually, we played EMU last in 2007 and 2008. Which, IMO, is part of the reason we lost those games, having already clinched in 2007 and been eliminated by BSU last season. You're probably thinking of the 2006 season, when we clinched the title then cam out flat in DeKalb against the Garrett Wolfe-led Huskies.
Actually, I don't think we'll come out flat next Friday, unless the anticipated lack of fans (
) due to timing has a big impact. This is the last appearance at home for LeFevour, Anderson, Gordy, Knight, Williams, Brazzel, Fraser, Edwards, Ollenburger, and Aguila, who have been important to our success the past few years. I think they'll want to go out with a bang!
OTOH, NIU will have just six days to recover from a hard-fought game today; the Huskies have only pride and perhaps a better bowl berth as motivation. I don't anticipate a blowout, but I think CMU will win by at least 10.
