RE: ESPN Reporting John Wall might be ineligible
The ones on here that seem to be giving Wall a full exemption from all of this are basically saying one of two things.
1) Theres nothing wrong with bribery
2) John Wall is too stupid to understand that hes conspiring to commit an act that is unethical and is cause for being ruled ineligible.
If he or any member of his family accepted money for his enrollment at UK then he should be punished. Its that simple. He might not be the brightest kid but hes smart enough to know whats right and wrong here and accepting benefits is unethical. As for the "ruin your career" aspect, spare me. Hes going to be a great NBA player next season with or without the holdover at UK. He could sit around eating cornpuffs and watching Spongebob and he'll still be a lottery pick. I knwo everyone wants the animosity towards Cal to stop but to start saying we should all sweep this under the rug? Thats ridiculous.

Typical response from a warped, angry fan. Your happy because a kid might not be eligible to play basketball and try to make something of himself? Even if it is at Kentucky, you shouldnt wish bad things no matter if Cal is the coach or not. I am sure he can play at some point, but to rejoice at a kids hardship is as classless as you can get. If he were a Tiger and that happened, you would call the Wildcat fans classless if they rejoiced like you have. Grow up all those that find joy in a 18 year old kids problems. I bet your life is perfect.
Very well stated, thanks.
I dont think people are laughing at the kid's problem..cause honestly, it will probably get worked out and he will play and go on to make millions...
I for one am laughing at all the KY fans Ive been personallytaking grief from for the last few months...the ones who claim X doesnt have to be shady now cause they are KY...
I am laughing cause now they have to defend and worry.

Kids problem? He willingly accepted benefits illegally. Where does this fall under "hardship"? If he had a car accident or medical, family issue then my thoughts and prayers go out. Are you trying to defend Bernie Madoff as well?

I love this quote from Jerry Tarkanian...
"the NCAA is so mad at Kentucky, it put Cleveland State on probation"
I suppose we better hope Wall is eligible.

RE: ESPN Reporting John Wall might be ineligible
I don't find joy in Wall's problems, but I understand those who find humor in Kentucky/X's problems.
As for Wall's problems, he does bear some responsiblity, because he chose his AAU coach. Heck, he chose his HS too.
If "issues in his past" relate directly to the situation, like choosing an AAU coach who was an agent (and planned to be one again after Wall's NCAA days), then those decisions are not irrelevant.
But Wall will be fine. He would be playing in the NBA this year if they didn't have that rule, and if he needs to play in Europe, he will make a lot of money there for a year. (3 guesses who his agent will be).
But I don't think he'll miss more than a few games, because that's how the NCAA rolls with the blue bloods.

Please be sure and let us know we you have a setback in your life, all the idiots that rejoice at others problems might be having a slow day that day and they might need a new target. If your only joy is because of others misfortune, you might need to make a visit on Sundays instead of playing on the computer all day.

Wall will go real early in the next nba draft regardless of whether he plays at uk or not.
I'll be surprised if he can't play, i figured X would get whatever he wanted this one year as "part of the deal" with the ncaa.

Spare me your worship service father. Maybe I'm wrong but I believe in accountability. He knew he was doing something wrong and did it anyway. This is no hardship. Greed is not a hardship, it's one of the seven deadly sins pastor. Better yet, Im gonna go out and rob an old lady tonight but it's ok because it was just a hardship in my life and I'm sure people will be breaking down my door to tell me how sorry they are that I had to endure such punishment for a hardship.

RE: ESPN Reporting John Wall might be ineligible
Ok, I'm just a little confused (not unusual, I'll admit).
First statement: Brian Clifton, Wall's AAU coach, was a certified agent with FIBA, basketball's international governing body, for nearly a year. Under NCAA rule that equates to Wall accepting illegal benefits from an agent.
So, if Brian Clifton was not a certified agent with FIBA, then John Wall would not have accepted illegal benefits, correct?
I guess is it so hard to imagine that John Wall didn't know and probably didn't care what Brian Clifton certification with FIBA was? Yeah, maybe that's a little foolhardy on his part but hell, doesn't seem like the actions of a hardened criminal.
Maybe I missed part of the story or you guys are just way ahead of me.
For what it's worth, I bet this kid doesn't miss a day of playing time. The money will get paid back, NCAA will say all is forgiven, and John Wall will play all games.
