In fact the 2 schools are opening next football season, which makes plenty of sense. BTW, even the previous Middle Tennessee State poster realizes that Tennessee State's athletic success has far exceeded anything that Middle Tennessee has ever done, so it is kind of funny seeing a MTSU poster trying to look down his nose at TSU.

Yeah I never said that TSU was better than us. Ed Temple is a more legendary coach than anyone that ECU has ever had either, considering he's one of the most legendary track coaches to ever live. We are a far better sports program than TSU.

ECU has had some pretty decent coaches too; there was Pat Dye who was a football coach that went on to win a national title at Georgia. There was also Dave Odom who coached for years at Wake Forest after he left ECU. As for TSU they have had some pretty good football and basketball teams, coaches and players. In addition to ladies like Wilma Rudolph on the track team; they also had guys like Dick Barnett, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Richard Dent, "Jefferson Street" Joe Gilliam, etc.

from 1959, when we went D-1, we have played 23 times. The record is 15-5-3. That's just the facts.

Kindly explain what exactly is pathetic about my school, athletics and fan base. I'd be willing to bet that you don't know the first thing about my school academically, we've certainly proven ourselves against your Tigers on the football field and the baseball diamond.

We got lucky a couple of seasons ago? Getting lucky is winning on a fluke play as time expires, we beat you in your house by two touchdowns. Hardly lucky.

like i said earlier, those were 2 horrible years for us and they were right after deangelo....i mean even the great utay volunqueers lost to wyoming, that doesnt mean that their program is really on the rise. Go take a look at our roster for this season and compare it to yours. What you have is LOFT: Lack of F*ucking Talent

I almost feel bad for you because you're going to be one of the many Tiger fans on suicide watch on September 13th the day after you've lost to a team with a "lack of talent".

We must have had a bad year last year if we're wasting this much bandwidth on MTSU. I will not talk a single bit of smack about Troy or FAU (they've earned my respect)...but MTSU...come on. Pull up the turf at that oversized high school stadium you have and then come talk to us.

I've lived in the 'Boro and I've attended games there. The gameday experience sucks...the crowd sucks...and your team sucks. Every close game you've had against a power team, ie Bama, was because they overlooked you...kinda like what we did with you last year.

Surpassing us in 6 years....yeah right. That's like us saying we're overtaking UT in a few years. Somethings just won't happen (sorry Tiger faithful...until we move to a different conference....).

MTSU...whatever.

Indeed, those are facts, but with the qualifier you added.

The unqualified facts are 28-22-5 overall.

It's hilarious that you say you won't talk one bit of smack about FAU and you lead your smack talk off with our stadium. For starters, I'm not sure if you've ever been to Lockhart stadium where FAU plays, but it's the biggest joke of a college football stadium in the nation. It was built as a high school stadium in the 1950's and has been home to two failed pro soccer franchises, it also seats less than 20,000. Secondly, I don't know when the last time you've been to Floyd Stadium was, but we did tear the turf up. Sportexe Powerblade turf(synthetic grass with the rubber shavings underneath like that seen in most pro stadiums) was installed in 2006(does that mean we can talk now?) we also had a new video board installed in 2007. Lastly Memphis isn't exactly on the cutting edge of college football stadiums, I was at that game two seasons ago when you supposedly "overlooked us" at the Liberty Bowl. It was a decent stadium, I've seen better and I've seen worse, but I do understand why basically your entire fanbase wants a new OCS.

Our crowd sucks? In the last two seasons you guys have drawn more than 32,000(our stadium's capacity) just twice and it was against Louisville and Ole Miss. At the end of the season last year you guys had two games in which you drew under 20,000. That's less than 1/3 capacity. We haven't had a game draw less than 1/3 since 2005. You'll probably see about 26,000 or so for our game in September which will look a lot better in our 32,000 seat stadium than the 30,000 or so that only half filled the Liberty Bowl when we came down there in 2007. So the one thing the Liberty Bowl has on Floyd Stadium is capacity, but it's not like you routinely need those extra 30,000 or so seats you have on us.

Us passing you in 6 years is nothing at all like you passing UT. We are way closer to you as a program than you are to UT.

Despite your negativity, I'll more than happily pour you something golden and frothy at my tailgate, if you're actually making the trip up here, so you can seen how much our gameday experience doesn't suck.

As I posted in an earlier post, MTSU has had three winning seasons in the last ten years and one winning season in the last 7 years. That is all that needs to be said about that failure of a football program. After reading this guy's posts you would think they were a successful football program. Seriously, the best the Sun Belt had couldn't beat a 6-6 USM team last year. Nuff said.

The last 5 times you've played a Sun Belt team, none of which were conference champions, you've lost 4 times.

If the Sun Belt is really that inferior, what does that say about your Tigers?

Nuff Said.

ok, so lets look at the talent level this year for memphis vs mtsu....according to rivals, our recruiting class is tied for #67 in the country, yours is like idk #104....you do the math. Then you must factor in all of our incredibly talented transfers, that will make one messy game

For starters, why are we comparing the incoming classes? Will only our freshman be playing each other this year? The incoming class will more than likely have the least impact on the game, so it's pretty irrelevant, but just to play devil's advocate, if you go by Scout.com Middle Tennessee #83 and Memphis #94.

It is a far more thought out argument than any fan of a football program that has one winning season in the last 7 years can make. Season records don't lie. They are fact. MTSU's for the past decade and especially the last seven years suck.
While you like to spout off about MTSU's record against Memphis in the last 5 games, let me just say that USM has never lost to a Sun Belt team since the Belt starting playing football in 2001. We are 8-0 in that span. That includes beating your league champ 3 times in the N.O. bowl. Meanwhile USM is 1-4 in the last five games against Memphis. So, don't think for one minute that Memphis hasn't had success on the football field recently. They have done what no Sun Belt team has been able to accomplish. That is to not only beat USM, but to own us recently on the gridiron.

For starters, 1-4 is Memphis's record against the Sun Belt conference in the last 3 seasons, not their record against the Blue Raiders. So they haven't been able to get it done against our "inferior" conference. We beat Memphis the last time we played them, in 2007 21-7 at their place.

As far as USM, your record against the Sun Belt speaks for itself, but two out of three of your New Orleans Bowl victories were against mediocre, at best, teams. The conference as a whole has grown leaps in bounds in our short history, especially here in the past few years.

In 2005 you beat an Arkansas State team who's lone out of conference win was Tennessee-Martin, in that same season Arkansas State beat 2-9 FAU 3-0 in overtime. In that same season Arkansas State also lost to Middle Tennesse 45-7. You beat a North Texas team in 2004 that was nothing special. The conference across the board is exponentially better than it was then, last year you got a very good win against a very good Troy team, but don't act like you ran them off the field like most of your fans thought you would.

Your spin is weak. Those weren't exactly great USM teams that have owned your Belt champions. That is why USM was playing in the N.O. Bowl to start with. You mention how the Sun Belt is getting better, yet it got owned by CUSA last year.
So how do you spin MTSU having one winning season in the last 7 seasons? I can't wait to read those excuses.
