I will not talk a single bit of smack about Troy or FAU (they've earned my respect)...but MTSU...come on. Pull up the turf at that oversized high school stadium you have and then come talk to us.
I've lived in the 'Boro and I've attended games there. The gameday experience sucks...the crowd sucks...and your team sucks. Every close game you've had against a power team, ie Bama, was because they overlooked you...kinda like what we did with you last year.
Surpassing us in 6 years....yeah right. That's like us saying we're overtaking UT in a few years. Somethings just won't happen (sorry Tiger faithful...until we move to a different conference....).
MTSU...whatever.
It's hilarious that you say you won't talk one bit of smack about FAU and you lead your smack talk off with our stadium. For starters, I'm not sure if you've ever been to Lockhart stadium where FAU plays, but it's the biggest joke of a college football stadium in the nation. It was built as a high school stadium in the 1950's and has been home to two failed pro soccer franchises, it also seats less than 20,000. Secondly, I don't know when the last time you've been to Floyd Stadium was, but we did tear the turf up. Sportexe Powerblade turf(synthetic grass with the rubber shavings underneath like that seen in most pro stadiums) was installed in 2006(does that mean we can talk now?) we also had a new video board installed in 2007. Lastly Memphis isn't exactly on the cutting edge of college football stadiums, I was at that game
two seasons ago when you supposedly "overlooked us" at the Liberty Bowl. It was a decent stadium, I've seen better and I've seen worse, but I do understand why basically your entire fanbase wants a new OCS.
Our crowd sucks? In the last two seasons you guys have drawn more than 32,000(our stadium's capacity) just twice and it was against Louisville and Ole Miss. At the end of the season last year you guys had two games in which you drew under 20,000. That's less than 1/3 capacity. We haven't had a game draw less than 1/3 since 2005. You'll probably see about 26,000 or so for our game in September which will look a lot better in our 32,000 seat stadium than the 30,000 or so that only half filled the Liberty Bowl when we came down there in 2007. So the one thing the Liberty Bowl has on Floyd Stadium is capacity, but it's not like you routinely need those extra 30,000 or so seats you have on us.
Us passing you in 6 years is nothing at all like you passing UT. We are
way closer to you as a program than you are to UT.
Despite your negativity, I'll more than happily pour you something golden and frothy at my tailgate, if you're actually making the trip up here, so you can seen how much our gameday experience
doesn't suck.
