He was terrible. Not one speech or rally where he actually spoke to the voters. An Insider’s insider for sure.

TBH his daughter did an ad which actually did make a plea and at least connected with people. Paxton was aloof throughout the process.

Now we have Tip Toe through the Tulips to deal with.

Wesley Hunt would've been a better candidate for our side.

TBH any Republican would have lost. People are upset everything is not affordable

How terrified was he of doing a town hall similar to what Talarico did in FTW or a straight up debate? That wasn't a good sign. He needed to do something like that and address the issues that people have with him head on instead of just deflecting and attacking.

In retrospect, yes, you're right. I'm not sure if doing so would've mattered very much, in the grand scheme of things. Still, not doing so definitely hurt him.

The Californication is complete.

You see it in Tex. GA, and NC. People run from the liberal dumpster fire but continue to vote blue. They can see and feel the results but can't make the connection.

The data doesn't support that claim. The transplants into these states vote solidly Republican and have been keeping these states Republican while born and raised voters have been moving Democrat for years.

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics...oll-shows/

The bottom line is everything is becoming unaffordable. It started with the INFLATION PRODUCTION ACT and nothing has really changed. Add to that we have a generation of young adults who are not married and a generation of young men who have been castrated by Woke Progressive ideology and you can see how things will start to see saw.

I have said this before and I fully expect inflation and commodities to skyrocket once the Dems seize control. Dems placate the very Billionaires they denigrate. It's money making time.

Ok Jan tells us all about it but why did you leave out tariffs and the Iran War?

So, in your opinion rug sweeping, avoidance aka hiding, and having zero messaging doesn’t work for voters?

Hmmmm…..tell that to the handlers of Joe Biden

Damn. Even if early, that’s crazy.

Brazoria is supposed to be hard solid red. Hell..I wish we had left Fort Bend when we moved a few years ago and took up residence in Brazoria, even if just barely across the border.

West Pearland in Brazoria was a weird place to be during Covid. The example of masked conformists and signs everywhere of the rules of engagement during Covid. Not surprising to see a light blue Brazoria.

I’m not turning on Trump just stating the obvious. Btw I’m not a Republican either. If you ever read any of my posts you’d see the criticism I have placed at his feet

The Inflation Production Act created this unaffordable society we now have. That coach was fired. New HC Trump is still losing so he got the next thing to a firing. Remove his henchmen.

The Iran mess is what he turned it into for lack of decisiveness and a clear plan. Vacillating back and forth and talking like Pro Wrestler about kicking Azz doesn’t do anything or scare a bunch of hating blood thirsty zealots.

Oh, btw supporting Islam means wiping out soy boys if you are keeping score.

I’m not a lackey who is drunk on his kool aid. The Dems are worse trying their best to completely destroy the foundation of morals this country was built on.

Dems are embracing everything the Romans did in the last days. Heck, even having a booth for castration at their convention. The last thing the Dems will push for will be Pedophilia. It will go along with all of the alphabet soup.

Murals found in the bath house in Pompeii were proof of how decadent the Romans had become

In retrospect, yes, you're right. I'm not sure if doing so would've mattered very much, in the grand scheme of things. Still, not doing so definitely hurt him.

He had to avoid both debates and rownhalls. And full normal press conferences.

Every single reporter would have had hefty questions about his sordid practices as AG. They learned that early when they stopped even light introductory pressers.

The last one was a meeting and photo session with Texas sheriffs and their endorsements with him.

The *second* he finished his prepared remarks, and said he would take questions, a reporter asked about him voting in a different part of the county as opposed to his actual residence. He sloughed that question off and literally said ‘ we’re here to talk about law enforcement questions’.

The the next reporter asked him a question about the donor and the vast help he directed to that donors benefit by the AG office (the issue in his impeachment).

His media director jumped straight in before Paxton uttered a word and literally shut down the event.

Debates, town halls, and even non-strictly controlled media events were functionally unavailable to him until he decided to actually address those issues. The end result was a 12 point win in a ruby red state —- kind of a curb stomping.

The TX Repubs would have been way better served by Cornyn or Hurd. Most disaffected Reps would have voted for those two in droves. I have zero doubt either of those two would have won TX. And I have zero doubt that I would have voted for for them either. The result was that I did not vote for the R in that race. Actually, they managed to piss away a lot of voters that would have otherwise voted R in that race.

It’s funny to think that Trump bragged incessantly how ‘his endorsement’ power was so good. That dude ushered in a loss by 12 in that race (a curb stomping defeat in a 2024 R+10(?) state to. D +12. Awesome super power to help his pucks….

You can be a reliable Conservative and yet still recognize that this is exactly the opposite of what you described. It's a great day for Freedom b/c the wrong team won and we didn't have a riot threatening to do nasty things to Congress over it, and we didn't see Ken Paxton and the rest who got their butts whipped openly question if they really lost or not. Most elections, most of the time, the Silent Majority are going to prefer generally more Conservative ideology, and we'll see that in the coming decades. It hurts today, but we can hope for better leadership the next time the Republicans have the gavels.

(11-04-2026 08:58 AM)BlueDragon Wrote:  When I saw Paxton getting drummed in Collin County I knew his fate was sealed. The problem moving forward is the weak inept leadership the Dems will bring and without any support in the Texas House or Senate I do not see much taking place but grandstanding.

Paxton got impeached by his own party a couple years ago, he wasn't convicted in the Senate b/c his wife was a Senator and stood by her man, then he cheated on her and divorced her as his thanks. The guy was about as flawed of a candidate as you could get. Half the pro-Paxton texts and mailers we got, at least here in SA, were really just some variation of "Talarico is weird". THAT'S THE BEST YOU CAN DO TO SUPPORT A REPUBLICAN FORMER ATTORNEY GENERAL IN TEXAS? REALLY??

There's no way to sugar coat this, Paxton dragged down the entire ticket. Florida had a qualified candidate in Moody and she carried the rest on her coattails, if Texas had Cornyn + that $250m in SpaceX bucks, well, at least they could have touted all that he'd done for Texas instead of making vague, "weird" attacks on the Democrat.

It's also worth noting that Abbot needlessly alienated his rural base with the school vouchers. He primaried a sizeable chunk of guys who crossed him on the issue, all from rural areas, and he pissed off a lot of small town, hardcore, reliable R voters who didn't think that every kid in the State should get a $10k voucher to go to a for-profit Charter or Private school with our hard earned tax dollars. DeSantis in Florida had a much better handle on the pulse of his supporters, leaving the next crop of Florida candidates in a much stronger position in 2026.

I'm confident that we'll see better Candidates from the Republicans in future elections, and they'll win a whole lot more often than they lose in Texas.

Lazy. You bothered to look into the actual numbers? Trump's candidate got destroyed. 1.5M liberals haven't all moved to Texas from California. About 5 million people total have left CA, IL and NY in the past 8 years. They can't all be libs and they can't all have moved to TX, SC, GA and SC.

Nah, not lazy, as there is precedent. I will concede that the Repubs put forth a terrible candidate. The governor losing was more of a surprise, at least imo.

Every statewide race went blue in Texas. This was a mandate.

Man-dates are right up your alley.

They only thing this mandated was 2 years of gridlock

They won't run roughshod over anybody while Trump has veto power. Unless Trump decides to be a Dem again.
