RE: Republicans for Talarico
My fellow voters in TX mostly chose differently than I did on the state level. Fine.

But I hope they’re at least willing to push back to fight against any effort to install a state income tax. That would be complete bull**** if we allow that to happen.

That’s the main reason I didn’t want TX’s state government leadership to turn blue. Government overall takes more than enough of my money.

We pay more in taxes in Texas than most states w/ an income tax. Property and sales tax through the roof. Rule #1 in Texas is if you don't want to pay taxes, don't own a home.

You just pay them in rent then. This is why I laugh at Texans saying they have it better with taxes. They don't. It just comes a different way.

Lazy. You bothered to look into the actual numbers? Trump's candidate got destroyed. 1.5M liberals haven't all moved to Texas from California. About 5 million people total have left CA, IL and NY in the past 8 years. They can't all be libs and they can't all have moved to TX, SC, GA and SC.

RE: Republicans for Talarico
A woman was posting that no state taxes was in the constitution. So I ask, how it get there? Exactly, and that's the same way they'll take it out and give us a state tax. We'll be like NM, screwed. I've never wanted to move to NM because of it's state tax now we'll be like them. Maybe I'll move to the suburbs of that state, around Tucumcari or other.

JK, I'm Texan through and through and I'll live and DIE here, come hell (which is in the horizon) or high water (which we've had last week). LOL

You think they’re going to lower property taxes when pushing for an income tax and make it revenue neutral?

I’d bet a lot of money there’s no way they do that. The net will be income earners having for fork over more of their hard earned money to state government.

Nah, not lazy, as there is precedent. I will concede that the Repubs put forth a terrible candidate. The governor losing was more of a surprise, at least imo.

Every statewide race went blue in Texas. This was a mandate.

The real numbers don't back up your claim that it's because of Californians. Between 75K and 100K people move from CA to Texas each year. That doesn't account for people moving to Texas from anywhere else or those Californians' political positions. It doesn't account for anybody else leaving Texas for whatever reason either. It's a cop out that avoids the real issues.

Was Ken Paxton the worst of the worst candidates (regardless of party) in the nationwide midterms? I have to wonder.

Democrats are TAX and SPEND for their pet projects aka social justice with pork barrel in mind and zero concern from where or how the money gets to the them. They will never take ownership of reckless fiscal policies nor be accountable.

My Dad always said if you didn’t earn it you won’t respect it.

That’s the world politicians live in. Drunk on their own power and narcissism. Dam, how did Tanq miss his calling? Self absorbed cog that drives the wheel

Been that way my whole life

I was recently having a discussion with a Californian who was an ultra liberal elite and said he was fine with California having a slum class and wished the middle class would disappear. Said California is making it happen and we will be like the rest of the world

Dems placate these types.

So Newsmax accidentally has Sarah Huckabee Sanders losing her reelection to her opponent even though she's got 54% of the vote compared to only 39%. Oh, and they're not correcting it either. lolwut?

He was terrible. Not one speech or rally where he actually spoke to the voters. An Insider’s insider for sure.

TBH his daughter did an ad which actually did make a plea and at least connected with people. Paxton was aloof throughout the process.

Now we have Tip Toe through the Tulips to deal with.

For this cycle, it was pretty bad... Not even the $200+ million Elon spent on this race could save him.

Wesley Hunt would've been a better candidate for our side.

The Texas House and Senate are still Red. This will be a stalemate
