RE: Musk blames Trump for Starlink interruptions
Trump and Musk are now pointing fingers at each other.

The drama over the SpaceX Starshield system, a military-grade version of Musk’s Starlink service, did not simply significantly escalate the furor in Washington and Kyiv. It raised fresh questions about the global role and influence of the world’s richest man, whose technologies have become indispensable in a new age of warfare.
....
Musk said in a post on X on Wednesday that “any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.”

But two senior US officials told CNN that the order to limit Starshield did not come from Trump. Some officials are increasingly convinced that Musk was in large part to blame.

Reuters reported on Thursday evening that the order to limit the satellite system came from inside the White House, citing two US officials and a Western official briefed on the matter.

Trump thickened the fog on Friday, telling reporters at the White House, “I didn’t do that” and saying he wasn’t sure there had been any speed restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Starshield.
....
Zelensky is in no doubt that the limits were deliberate. “It was not a technical problem,” he told the Financial Times. A Ukrainian military source told the paper that the full functionality of the system has now been restored and speed limits were lifted.

Look at his source for almost everything he posts. Some of them I've never heard of before. He seems to spend a lot of time digging hard to find dubious gotcha items.

Here is the same story from Fox News if that makes you feel better : https://www.foxnews.com/politics/elon-mu...uences.amp

I wasn't questioning the report. Just noting the source. Newsway. Who?

Btw, you clearly don't understand me. I don't give a **** about Fox. I'm not even a Republican. I'm an Indy who switches back and forth, except the Dems have been bat **** crazy since 2016.

I only use Fox the most b/c nobody is unbiased, but they do a better job of reporting the good and bad. OAN and Newsmax are too far right for me. CNN and MSNOW too far left.

Fox is the best of a sorry lot.

Honestly, you sound a lot like me. Im a registered Republican----but Im really a far closer to a Libertarian. Im Republican----mainly because I am pragmatic above all else and I know the Libertarians are never going to win anything. So, I almost always end up voting Republican because they tend to end up being closer to my views than the Democrats. lol---Im usually voting for the lesser of two evils.

This needs a congressional investigation.

I think thats unlikely. I suspect Trump is lying. It occurred just days after he publicly announced that he might cut off Ukraine from intelligence sharing and support. So its not surprising Trump had it cut off (after all, he did it before). The problem this time is the political and public backlash was almost instantly turning into a PR nightmare---just a couple weeks out from a mid-term where Republicans are already struggling. Not surprisingly----nobody in the administration wants to take responsibility for an incredibly unpopular decision=---least of all Trump who is already taking heat for bowing down to Putin (again) and kissing his butt for a few gallons of diesel that we dont even need. Not sure why Trump is so hard headed on this issue---simply refusing to get on the right side of an issue that is very popular with the American public. He's stopped the finanacial support---which I think is seen as a reasonable position by most---but the Russian deals, the threats to cut off intelligence sharing, the constant Putin butt kissing---is NOT playing well with the American people. Its an unforced error---especially days before an election where the Republicans appears to be fighting an up hilll battle in many states.

RE: Musk & Trump blame each other for Starlink interruptions
Turns out Zelensky was lying and since this is with the civilian starlink system and not the military starshield system, we probably need congressional investigations into why Ukraine thought it was ok to violate the terms of service of starlink.

RE: Musk & Trump blame each other for Starlink interruptions
WSJ reports Musk was the individual who unilaterally throttled American foreign policy.

Mr. Musk now reports Starlink is back to full functioning.
This episode. though, has renewed bipartisan calls for SpaceX to be nationalized.

We've known that for days, dumbazz. Ukraine was using the civilian STARLINK for drone targeting. They have access to STARSHIELD, but decided to use STARLINK instead, which was a violation of the terms of service.

Its early in the week for you to start off swallowing so much taint.

Commercial Starlink doesnt extend into Russia. Which means no use of Starlink for "offensive" purposes is even possible by the Ukrainians. Starlink only works in Ukraine, which means by definition any use of Starlink inside Urkaine is "defensive" in nature. I assume the reason Russia was earlier cut off from Starlink was because they using it as an offensive weapon.

Personally anyone who believes we are responsible for maintaining a system in place for another country to use is a complete idiot.

When did we become the keepers of Ukraine?

This not news except for an idiot who is looking for some type of political retribution

Civilian starlink is also has had speed limits since way earlier in the year. Mine cuts out at 100mph. So that may work for loiter and surveillance drones with rotax engines, but not much else from a fixed wing UAV perspective.

No, mph. If my starlink mini terminal is moving faster than 100mph it suspends service. In 2025 it was much higher, I never hit it but it was reported at 450mph.

One of Ukraine’s complaint is that Starshield in motion was disabled at 400kmph.

It’s a firmware restriction to keep you from using the standard plan in an aircraft. Now it basically only works in a Cessna 152, and not if you have a tail wind.
