29 year old Brian Bell was fired from his newly hired gig because of dumb tweets he made when he was a 15 year old boy in 2012

As someone else said they need a trans lesbian women of color for that position in the name of inclusivity and intersectionality anyway.

Gotta send the right message and vibes out to the universe.

I'd rather be whatever ist or phobe the left labels everyone that doesn't agree with them than be a brain dead moronic leftist.

While this is incredibly stupid and more than likely cover for them just wanting to get rid of the guy for other reasons, I'm soooooooooooooo glad I grew up during a time with no social media.

I'd be interested to see the tweets of players from years ago. Wonder if anything would turn up that would force Portland to fire players.

Maybe, but I suspect there was a much more private/personal agenda going on. I think there was some specific individual, or a small group (<5) of people who wanted someone else to get it, or had some beef with Braiden Bell, or the TrailBlazers, or the hiring process, etc. I am very skeptical that leftwing activists were paying attention to some random white guy who already had a media-job doing PBP in the WNBA, and then got a different media-job doing PBP in the NBA. I think the truth is much more specific to this situation.

That is what i think to.

My gut is:

Tom Dundon gave the team a less than average budget to hire someone to be the next PxP guy.

Whomever the decision maker was in the hire, picked Bell, but it wasn't a popular choice for whatever reason. "Dirt" was found on Bell and used to remove him so the "right" choice could get the job.

If Dundon was involved he probably didn't care in the slightest and just wanted to avoid anymore unnecessary controversy and followed the recommendation of the people he hired to run the team. In a market like Portland I understand being afraid those old tweets might have legs.

Shameful on the organization's part. The man was only 15 when he made the comments. He did not deserved to be fired for that.

I agree there is more to the story than what we’ve heard so far, and yes the “real reason” may be different than what the Blazers have said.
