ASUN cross over games
I heard everyone will get 4 games ( 2 home 2 away) ASUN only haivng 8 teams and UAC having 9 the Math does not add up unless one or 2 ASUN teams plays and extra game or 2 OR 1 UAC team does not participate OR 2 UAC teams will only get 2 games instead of 4 * most likely UTA and Tarleton* because I heard ACU has 4 games slated against ASUN teams. I did see somewhere that Tarleton had a home game against UWF in early Jan but I have not seen any other ASUN teams on our schedule. I wish Tarleton would release the schedule before opening tip off, It is frustrating that they do not release it unti the last minute.

RE: ASUN cross over games
Interestingly enough those are the same four ASUN teams on Tarletons schedule...on the womens side. The men have not posted a schedule yet and probably wont until the first of November. Except The J'Ville teams are away and Steson and FGCU are our home games. I was hoping I could peak at the UTA womens schedule to see if those same foou ASUN teams are on it or if it is different ones and could probably deduce Tarletons mens ASUN teams they are playing.

RE: ASUN cross over games
EKU's WBB has ASUN road games at Lipscomb and Bellarmine, home games with West Florida and Queens. It has been announced by West Florida that our men are playing there. So I do not doubt we have those 4 teams.

I found out that Tarleton has West Florida and North Florida in Stephenville and travel to Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.

And I was right.
Men have home games with Lipscomb and Bellarmine and road games at UWF and Queens.

Question for the former ASUN members who are familar with the Florida ASUN schools ( not counting UWF since this will be their first year) How would you describe the competitivess ( last 5 year or so) and facilities at those 4 schools ( Jacksonville North Florida Steson and Florida Gulf Coast)

RE: ASUN cross over games
UNA’s crossover games are hosting Queens and UWF then traveling to Bellarmine and Lipscomb. So, the ASUN (and former GSC) vibes will be flowing late December and early January for sure. Wish there was double this amount of crossover games. UNA has a terrible home (and road) non-conference schedule until these games.

As for facilities, it varies by sport, but for basketball UNF and FGCU have much better arenas than JU and Stetson (theirs are small and old school). That’s just my opinion from watching games online for 8 years. I’ve never been to any of those facilities in person.

UNA had to upgrade Flowers Hall significantly when they were invited to the ASUN and it was a nice overhaul, but it’s an older facility no matter how you slice it. The main thing is that folks show up when they are winning. It was an impressive atmosphere in the 2024-25 season for sure. I was proud of them and it was fun to watch online.

APSU has a newer, nice arena while Bellarmine plays in the legendary Freedom Hall in Louisville. UCA’s is a nice design and dedicated to Scotty Pippen. EKU and Lipscomb both have decent arenas, as well.

UWF will need to step it up as their Field House is set up for double courts and is very small and old school. They are overhauling the football stadium currently. So, the indoor arena for hoops and volleyball is likely next.

The crazy answer to your other curiosity is that all four long-term Florida ASUN teams have been competitive in the past five years. Seriously. But then, the portal hits and it’s musical chairs. Toss in Liberty, Lipscomb, Queens, KSU, Bellarmine, APSU, UNA, Jax State, and UCA (last season after being in the basement the season prior), it’s been some very interesting parity in the past 5+ seasons.

Bellarmine has not played at Freedom Hall on a couple of years. They play on campus at Knights Hall.

EKU completed a $51M renovation of Alumni Coliseum and McBrayer Arena where both MBB and WBB as well as Volleyball play.

I pretty much agree with the assessment of the Florida schools gyms. Thought FGCU had the best of the four.

Thanks for the correction. I also failed to mention Queens which is a small older gym similar to JU and Stetson.

RE: ASUN cross over games
Having been to some (3) of these arenas-I'll chime in (Mostly East of the Mississippi) and seen others on TV or website--I would rank EKU as #1 with AP close behind followed by Lipscomb, FGCU and Little Rock. The others in the EAST seem to be a step below that first group IMHO.

EKU's McBrayer Arena (Now Baptist Health Arena) was Built for Roundball--yet with the remodel has been upgraded. The all wood ceiling is amazing and well known. The facility (when full) brings back a warm "feel" for Basketball you just can't get with new arenas.
