Hey Trip, don't forget that the 2027 trucks are coming out and the dealers want to get rid of their 2026 ones. A 2026 is just as new as a current one.

For F150s late 2023 production or 2024+ delivers the drum fix in the 10 speed, so 2024 would probably be the target year for used on the F150. Supposedly the 3.5 cam phasers are improved as well.
If I was buying a recently used ram I would skip the 1500 and grab a 6.4L gas 2500, or if going 1500 take a shot on a new hurricane.
I don’t know GM other than they share the transmission with ford.

My big brother bought a brand new 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500. I haven't ridden in it. He only drives it on the weekends. His daughter drives it to work sometimes even though she's got a car. (She drove his black 2013 Silverado to school and dance before she got a Hyundai Sonata, which was a pretty cool little car before it got totaled by a deer hitting the front right side of it as she was headed up to Nacogdoches for her spring semester last year.) I Anyway, I don't remember the specs on it, but it looks pretty cool. I still don't like the front of them very much. That part of the current body style's just too weird looking for me. I told him about it being my only knock on it and followed up with something like "it's only my opinion". He said "well, I disagree." lol
I ended up giving my Traverse to my nephew and his new wife so they'd have a second vehicle to drive. I've now got my dad's old Frontier from my big brother and his family. (That's what my niece was driving after her Sonata was totaled.) I've always loved that truck. Decent gas mileage for an older midsize pickup. I just wish it had more get up and go, if you get my meaning.
Oh! Andy! My nephew got an RV and now he and his new wife live in an RV park just down the road from me. It's pretty snazzy.

I haven’t really liked the front of any GM trucks since GMT800. I haven’t driven one with their turbo 4 cylinder, although I would like to. I may end up getting a GMT400 like I had in high school at some point. Single cab, stepside.
Fords 2.7L turbo is great, and doesn’t seem to have the cam phaser problems of the 3.5, although Ford is replacing the 2.7L in the F150 line with a 3.0 derived from the same block.
The frontier looks really nice since the redesign and they are simple and reliable. I’ll probably get one for my youngest when he is a senior, he has to drive the hand me down his jr year.

That's right! My big brother's new Silverado's got a turbo 4-cylinder. He likes it quite a lot. And thank you for saying you didn't like the front end of the Silverados either. (I know you said GMT, but I like the GMC front ends more than the Chevy trucks and SUVs.) As for the new Frontiers, if I had the money, I'd go out and get a brand new one with all the bells and whistles, even with fog lamps. But I like having a longer bed so it'd probably be an extended cab instead of a crew cab, which I do prefer due to added space inside. Luckily, my dad's truck (the last vehicle he had before he suddenly passed away) is an extended cab, which, of course, means a longer bed.

Silverado has a four cylinder turbo? Wow, that's news to me, I wish that they had it when the Colorado came out I would have bought one. My Colorado has a regular 6 but it's said that it's the same engine as the Camaro. It does have good acceleration but sometimes when you press on the gas pedal it hesitates a little and then gets going. I don't like that but hey, I'm stuck with it now.
I sure would like for them to go the Tundra route with a 6 and double turbo like the Lexus had. My son just bought one and it's a beaut but I don't need one so I'm not buying one, I don't like their grills either, they look like semis.

Ram has 3.0L inline 6 turbo (hurricane is engine name) with two versions, the HO has 520 ft lbs of torque.
Chevy has a 2.7L I4 turbo.
Ford has a 2.7L V6 turbo (which may be the most reliable engine they make in the trucks). The F150 2.7 is great but I probably would get the 3.5L ecoboost for AAA use case. Towing a trailer with a high frontal area the 2.7L ends up in boost just cruising down the interstate at 65.

Hey, Ollie, I'm def buying a new 2026.
And buying a new vs. a used, private owners of used cars don't give warranties, dealers try to screw you over b/c you have no comparisons, and most of all, at my age and being out so far from home and alone, I would worry about breakdowns, so new it will be.

See my last answer to Ollie. From a financial standpoint, I get it. From a safety and piece of mind standpoint, I have decided to go new.
In fact I'm now in Memphis and going out in about an hour to start the process. I have about a week to get the truck, get my trailer upgraded with a few minor changes, and get myself up to SD to take care of everything else. Then maybe after all that is done, I can relax a bit.
Been a pretty rough 4 months.

The 2.7 turbos in the Silverados are a scam. They cost less than the 5.3 V8 and they basically get the same MPG, but can't haul as much. A 4x4 5.3l with the max trailer package trailers the best in the segment. I got mine down and dirty with no bells and whistles. The max trailer package includes the trailer mirrors that are telescopic, so you don't have to buy extenders for your trailer, and it comes with the bigger tranny and stiffer rear end. The 4x4 also gives you some extra towing ability due to the suspension.

Yeah, the trailer I have under contract is about 6500 pounds loaded, and most trucks in the lower price range only tow up to about 7K to 7700 pounds, which isn't enough leeway to be safe and sure.
The next jump up in trailering packages starts at about 11K and goes up to 13.5K between the 3 brands/models I'm considering (F-150, Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500.
Right at the moment, I am favoring the F-150, so I'm going there first, but likely will visit all 3 dealers before deciding by Monday or so.

So if we dont hear from TripleA at least every 7 to 10 days we can assume something did not go right. Or maybe it did go right....
Stay safe while on those roads
As far as what truck you get, if you can afford it, dont worry, about next moth or next year. Get what you want and will make you happy....if its not a strain on the budget. Its a lot worse to wake up a couple months from now wishing you upgraded. Money is not the most valuable thing you have. Your time is far more important and second being happy

Yes, stay safe, Andy.
Also, I should've mentioned my mom got a white 2023 Traverse. (Mine was a 2011 navy blue Traverse.) We both are getting tired of the automatic engine shutoff while resting so we plan on turning that feature off as soon as we look through the owner's manual.
