I have this little wager going. As of today, I have 180 days for prices to get down to pre-war levels, and the Strait isn't even open yet. It amazes me how illiterate people are in this country with how capitalism works. Gas prices here are tanking right now. It is in the $3.50/gall range everywhere I go right now. GasBuddy can't even keep up with the prices. And we have a big Jeeping event going on this weekend. Usually prices tick up a little during care events on the Coast.
And the Strait isn't even open yet.
My little wager with bondJohns starts today. It's been 107 days since the Strait of Hormuz was "closed". So we have 214 days for the average gas price to get back down to $2.97/gal. That's January 14, 2027. Tick tock. It's $4.08 today. It will be at $2.97 where I live by next weekend.

It dropped down to $3.27 on my corner today.COGS02-13-banana

It fell to $3.29 (cash) yesterday, from what I saw. Happy days are here again!

So, let's hear some reports. Have prices dropped overnight?

Yeah. I should hold off on saying "happy days are here again" until then, too. 04-cheers

Not yet here. Still $3.59. I think it's a bit early yet. Maybe after the signing Friday.

It dropped about $0.10 here about a week or so ago.. Our prices usually change on Thursdays around lunch in this area for some odd reason.

I got a feeling that the gas in the ground here is still from when prices were high and they won't drop til the next truck restocks.

This is what we have here this morning. I will update it this afternoon. It has been decreasing at some stations twice a day over the past week. Would not be surprised to see sub $3.00 by Friday.

Imagine how sad and angry the loons will be when gas comes back down to previous levels. It makes me wonder what their next manufactured crisis will be.

RE: AAA - Gas Hits $4
Imagine if you cult members thought critically and looked at things objectively?

There was no "manufactured crisis" here outside of trump and his minions in cahoots with Bibi claiming that all the sudden Iran was a week away from nuking the planet.

So off to war they went...with no consultation of Congress and no justifiable case made to the American public outside of "Trust us, bro!"

And then what happened?

Gas prices...which were stabilized and if anything, going down a bit...then soared astronomically, from $2.98 per gallon on 2/26 to $3.98 on March 26 and then kept climbing to a peak of $4.55 on May 21 (AAA figures). As of today, the average is still above $4.

Inflation started climbing. And we're likely not even at peak inflation as a result of the increased fuel prices and supply chain disruptions from the SOH closure yet.

So yippee...trump finally surrenders his lost cause.

And what did we gain, exactly?

They're still talking about the SOH being negotiated. When will it get back to exactly what we had before the war? Will it ever? Will Iran now charge tolls to every ship?

Are we going to pay or release a bunch of money to rebuild Iran?

What exactly are you guys celebrating here? Do you now have any more confidence that Iran is not going to be able to get a nuke? Really?

So trump breaks it. Creates high gas prices. Kickstarts inflation and economic uncertainty. And we end up in the same or worse place than before in all likelihood, and you guys give him credit for that?

You guys are truly weird.

Hey Tom, where were your complaints when gas went above $5 under Biden?

I'll save you the trouble..

Presidents don't affect gas pricing.
Trump signed a deal with OPEC that expired in 2022 and it was Trump's fault gas skyrocketed.

You forgot to include the amount of the cuts of the oil production for that deal was about 1/4 of the amount that wasn't going through the Strait of Hormuz during the past 3 months. Oh, and don't mention the goal of the administration during that time was to have half of the vehicles on the road of America be electric in 4 years.

That's never been part of the reasoning from Tom.

Did Biden start a war to cause it?
Did Biden start Covid?
Did he sign the 2 stimulus bills or did trump. (Biden only signed one of the 3)?
Did Biden sign the 2020 OPEC deal?
Did Biden invade Ukraine or did Russia?
Did Biden cause the global inflation after Covid?

I can only explain to you why things can sometimes have a delay and appear at times when someone else may be in charge...I can't make you understand them.

Are you seriously denying that trumps (and Bibi's) actions lead directly to the high prices the last few months? And I don't have to deny that the high prices under Biden were caused by Biden, because they mostly weren't. And I've proved that over and over again.

Yeah, Biden was perfect. Must have been, since you never complained about him, and everything he did bad was Trump's fault, anyway.

Btw, it's "led," not "lead" in your context. Guess you don't really know everything.
