This is exactly why everyone my age and younger hates boomers. You really don't care if your kids or grandkids have a better life than you do? I hope my new son ends up having a much better life and world to live in than things are now, I'm not going to be like "oh well as long as I got mine and I'm dead I don't care what happens to my kids and grandkids." Embarrassing as hell.
That might be the dumbest thing you've ever said on here, which is quite a feat. You don't know me one bit.
I raised my kids quite well, thanks, and they are in their 50s now, and live successful, wonderful, productive lives. On their own for decades now.
My grandkids are solid humans, were raised the same, and are headed in the same direction.
All I did was state reality. I'm 78 now. Probably close to the end. I'm not going to worry about every perceived political problem on the horizon.
WKUYG is exactly right. My kids are quite capable of dealing with challenges themselves, so I'm not going to spend my few years left worrying about it.
If I see I can do something about any issue, I get up and do it. I have been proactive all my life. They do the same. And they have done quite well.
All you did was prove why you support Dems, b/c you read things and jump to wrong conclusions, before doing even basic research.
No he's not right. I can be angry about a lot of things and still function in life just fine. I own a home, have a 1 month old tomorrow little boy, have a great job, Those first 2 happened much later in life that I'd have ideally liked, didn't get the home until 37 and a child until 39, and the delay on that and the insane costs of everything are part of the reasons we are only going to have 1 child. It is what it is, I always wanted 2 kids but between me being almost 40 already, the costs of having a child, the costs of childcare (quote we got was about 2500 a month), and the fact that despite us both having jobs that pay very good we couldn't make ends meet on 1 of our incomes. That's fine, we'll pour all our love into our 1 son and be thrilled with that.
Stop the whining and let me tell you what you are not saying....
that boomer might have got a house a few years before you but it was maybe half the size of what those starting out expect today. Let me point something out, up till 5 years ago the housing market was a buyers market and 2%.
You f'ing sit on your ass and did not buy then and you most likely could have. I owned maybe 35 homes that were once boomers first homes. They are 1 bath, maybe 1.5 and 800 to 1000 sq ft. That's not good enough for you crybabies, today. Nope want to blame someone else because you didnt have the credit or whatever the reason to buy a home 5 years ago.
Also that boomer probably had a car that was 5 to 8 years old and if they were really lucky a 2nd beater that barely ran and they had to fix every other month. You cry babies think something 5 years old is beneath you and you are not only carrying one car note but two new or almost new. That's why you had trouble buying a home earlier....
you had the price of a boomers first home in a car payment, or I should say 2 because both husband and wife need a car, new car.
Then you spending more money on phones for one month than the boomer paid in a year. What am I thinking....X2. Then you go out to eat or entertainment 3 to 5 times a week. The boomer was luckily if they went out for a fish or chicken dinner twice a month.
Stop the crying when you have more than enough to own a home. You are just not willing to let the "things" go, to buy it. Like I said I owned a shite load of boomers first homes. I bought those from 2012 to 2019 and was paying 65k to 85k for each. Not one of those homes would be good enough for you. From 2023 to 2024 I sold everyone for $165k to 220k. You are the one that made the choice to wait and buy. I also owned close to 40 homes (bought same period) that were 1200 to 2400 sq ft (probably closer to what your first home is) and we paid 95k to 125k. You made the choice not to buy till Biden wrecked the country.
One other thing you pissing and crying about 6 to 7% and when I bought my first home it was 14.8%... a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath tract home that had 950 sq ft. Took a whole year, after down payment and closing before we even thought about going out. Both working and both driving 7 to 8 year old cars.
Like I said, you want to f'ing cry about something that was in your control but didnt want to put in the work to get that home. Not only that a starter home was never even talked about. Today people think they can and need to start out middle class.
F'ing whinny ass baby that dont want to take responsibility that you and your wife (or girl friend) put my value on the toys than a home when that home was very affordable. Five f'ing years ago, I'm not talking 10 to 15 years, rates were 2 to 3% and homes were way more affordable than when I was mid 20s.
As for child care, again there's a difference in CHOICES. The boomer if both worked, didn't think their child had to have the best....
the 13 to 16 year old that lived down the street or the mother of 3 that was a stay at home mom made that money. Or a family cutback and the mother stopped working. Each of those are still possible today. Not possible if you dont want to adjust your lifestyle.....
CHOISES were made instead of whining, crying, blaming everyone but the person in the mirror that wants their cake and eat it too.
